Opioids Opiate insomnia

I have the exact opposite, ever since I have stopped daily used I cannot for the fuckin life of me sleep a 6 hour sesh straight, usually I get about 3-4 hours and thats lucky man....and btw they are def stimulating to me, I feel like they are a POWER UP
 
I recently took just over a week break from opiates. After being back on hydrocodone, the high seems different. I am actually ill, or the hydrocodone is making me feel ill. I am still getting euphoria, but also severe insomnia and a horrific stomach pains and vomiting. I also have a fever when taking t recently.

Today has felt better luckily. I slept as much as I could and stomach didn't hurt and no vomit til I took the hydrocodone. On a nod so later.
 
Vicodin, Lortab, Tussionex are brand names in the US. You may not have it in your country. Hydrocodone is about 2-3 times as potent in terms of analgesia.
 
sorry to bump an old thread, but i came across something today that imo relates to the topic: hypnic jerks. i was reading about this rotten medication i'm taking, following links on wikipedia, and i came across this:

"A hypnic jerk, hypnagogic jerk, sleep start, or night start, is an involuntary myoclonic twitch which occurs during hypnagogia, just as a person is beginning to fall asleep, often causing him or her to awaken suddenly. Physically, hypnic jerks resemble the "jump" experienced by a person when startled, often accompanied by a falling sensation. A higher occurrence in people with irregular sleep schedules is reported." (wikipedia, web. 2011)

it goes on to say that they don't what causes them; stress, anxiety, caffeine, etc. i believe opiates affect dopamine (among other things), and dopamine plays a role in our sleep cycles.

I definitely feel more "up" when I'm taking opiates, most recently Lortab and Oxycodone. I'm only taking 5-10mg of Oxycodone daily, and I still can't get to sleep before 1-2am.
 
You might be one of tbe people in which opiates affect you differently than the "norm". I think opiates are considered a depressant because they can depress your breathing, slow nor adren, bowl movements but they also stimulate dopamine release. I am of the nature to where opiates/opiods(especially thebaine spin offs) I get a ton of energy, talkative, love doing work, love thinking, anything becomes interesting, I just have a hard time going to sleep because everything is so much fun. I can't remember a time where opiates sedated me. I take to close to bedtime I can enter this state where my body is asleep but my mind is wide awake... Very odd sensation but it's not true sleep and if I have to get up early I will feel exhausted.

Now if I take adderall or concerta I can lay in bed and fall asleep pretty easily... No idea why but it happens more often than not.

Everyone reacts differently to foreign substances.

That's probably true. I'm definitely different from the "norm." =D

If I took Adderall too late in the day, I'd be up all night. Same applies to Vyvanse, Concerta, etc.

This hypnic jerk actually happened to me last night, or I should say early this morning as I was trying to fall a sleep.

Last April I took some adderall & fell a sleep an hour later, weird.........LoL!
 
I remember the first time I tried oxy I was really itchy and couldn't sleep (not had this problem since well the not sleeping part anyways) and had some GBL lying around so I decided to try 0.5ml, it helped a little bit and I felt really euphoric.

I ended up adding another 0.5ml and took a benadryl (non drowsy kind) which gave me some really nice nods and I fell asleep within half an hour. Woke up the next morning feeling happy and refreshed.

This was all low dose stuff so I don't recommend it if your used to big doses of either.
 
i think oxy and hydro are some of the more stimulating opiates - mad people get up, rather than sleepy, on em. benadryl is good in small doses... dont take more ambien tho, if that shit didnt put you down with the first one, takin more wont either...
 
Oxy can be stimulating, but it still lets me nod out and fall asleep. Comparing it to hydrocodone there supposed to have a similar duration. But I find that hydrocodone last longer and for some reason I cant sleep while i'm on it. Unless i'm addicted to it.

But I can always sleep on oxy really easy. As for that twitching thing, it scares the shit out of me somtimes. I'm falling into a nod the my whole leg fucking twitches. It comes with the territory though, I enjoy it as much as itching.

Everyone is different I suppose.......I can never sleep on oxy.
 
I call it the 'cringe'....a shudder or wave of euphoria/relaxation running through the body which makes me go more into fetal position when lying in bed. It's not the massive body rush wave of euphoria in the first 5mins on H....it's rather something later on in the high/nod. I get it a lot from high-dose DHC. I like the cringe....good feeling. Recently I get it less though. I assume it's my tolerance.
