On the Demonisation of Methamphetamine on Bluelight

Really good post and based on what seems like substantial informed and highly educated personal experience, which is what people need.
I have never touched meth, not knowingly anyway (how do you know what you got in pills not tested?) and although this might make me sound dumb to those who will raise their eyebrow to my personal observations, the stigma of meth in the UK is very different to the stigma of meth in places like the US. I have never really witnessed it unlike cannabis, psychedelics, crack, heroin etc. It wasn't really in our vocabulary growing up. We know about smack (heroin) and we would attack anybody who was a 'smack head' or 'looked' like one. Anything other than meth was mentioned.

That being said, amphetamines have real value. The trouble is their affinity for addiction, like mentioned in OP. I had several years of craving speed and I can attest to how this less powerful version can wreak havoc on your life. One bomb turns into two into three. Luckily for us our supplier was illusive and because he was on speed often he was never in one place and never answered his phone and always had a distant relationship with his customers (probably the best dealer when I think about it) so this discouraged us to chase him all night so we would just come down instead and be forced to get on with reality. Then he would text us when we flat-lined and seconds from hitting some ZZZ's and the thought of coming back up was beyond us at that point.

When used appropriately, they can do some great things. And if it was used appropriately, less harms would result (obviously). Easier said than done.
I can imagine meth is no different. We just foolishly tarnish all drugs with the most extreme scenarios and we don't factor in what remains in the middle. That is, again like mentioned in OP, conditioned responses, or better put, reactions, to the war on drugs narrative. We need to stop that and we always have needed to stop that.

I love intellectual masturbation as much as the next bro, but when you get into the "this should be this way" and "in vacuum, the issue is much different", then I wonder. Show me that existence is absolutely moral. Everything is affected by everything else. I.e. meth doesn't need to be demonized. It is the OG demon.

Neh.

Most of Team Nod (aka the heroin addicts that swarmed the board from about 2005/2006-on are mostly deceased from overdosing/fent..

There's been more deaths and sudden disappearances because of abuse of benzos , opiates , and binges of drug cocktails than just boring old meth.

I dont really care what people I dont know think especially if they are completely inexperienced and just ranting on about a drug they dont use as opposed to sticking to drugs they do know about.

No one is going to say any drug that is addictive like meth is great for use.

Its mainly people who hide their own use of meth that rag on others more open about it, or people who have nothing better to do than lecture, maybe Mr Peabody thinks he's posting new info but he isn't.

People fuck up their lives and die from any drug, even legal ones that are seen as safer.

Id probably give more of a shit what people think if they were completely straight but there's too many folk keen on substances that are unknown and pushing their legality to be somehow okay to pass them around , so when the deaths keep happening, maybe focus on that instead.

Ive copped plenty from many staff or not, some deserved but mostly not. Id love to hit back one day but won't

The point is that regardless of whether meth is bad, people are doing it and are interested in doing it and need information on it, and we shouldn't be making anyone feel stigmatized or disrespected for their choice of drugs on a drugs harm reduction forum.

Randoms cant make anyone feel stigmatised unless that stigma is already there, just ignore the lectures as they're boring or allow a response that is deserved, theres stigma everywhere.

Ppl need to toughen up, I think.

I have a third of a gram of good looking meth right now, haven't used any yet

I plan on plugging 10-20 mg at a time (no tolerance)

It's actually proven that marijauna overdoses happen RANDOMLY 1 % of the time, dude just falls out, but people love marijauna so much that they throw the body in acid and say he went to Europe

Meth on the other hand, cures cancer. don't believe me? well then, fuck you

My original point i was trying to make (yes, I had one) was that this seems to be the last internet forum of its kind where the vibe is relaxed and people are, for the most part, free to talk about whatever bullshit they need to get off their chests, no matter how self destructive they choose to be and without the condescending "meth is bad and you should feel bad" types of responses that d***sforum became known for.

@Perforated Great read! Congrats on kicking the habit!
I've got to say- meth today IS way different from what we had in the early 2000s. I was clean for 15 years- quit in 2005, picked back up this year- and there is a very obvious difference in the high (iv user) and in the side effects. But I absolutely agree- ANY substance can be dangerous when taken to extremes. I don't know if it makes other users feel superior when they demonize "other" drugs, but man.... y'all are just users too. My bf prefers opiates bc he wants to slow down; I wanna speed up. To each their own. And the "fanbase" of anything will usually have a toxic element- we aren't all sleep deprived, shadow-seeing tweakers... I personally think it helps with my ADHD.
WHY bluelighters feel the need to judge is beyond me. Users are going to do what they're going to do- it's the forum's goal to guide them to do it safely. How do your judgements of others help YOUR drug use? Right..... Smh.
Personally (no hate, just not my cup of tea) i intentionally skip @Mr.Peabody's posts. Fearmongering helps no one and I consider them advertisements more than advice.
Use wisely, reduce harm, and be smart- WHATEVER your DOC is. I appreciate you posting this!

My paintbrush only paints those who put their portraits out there. I don't believe I have ever painted any of your posts . Not once. You seem to be a responsible user. Most times anyway. Tweaky weirdness. That's putting it quite mildly. Tweaky weirdness would be fun to read. Most meth posts on BL are not that. They are deep soul crushing misery of the way the poster feels at the relentless grip meth has on them. They are full of horrible thoughts of themselves and the abject misery they are in. It is quite palpable and they are locked in a death grip with the battle between the meth and their mindset. Maybe I read them with a clearer mind than most however that is debatable.

As far as there not being enough meth posts to constitute it's own sub forum. Take a look around without the rose colored glasses on. There are numerous threads in BDD and OD. Most actually belong in DC but don't get moved. Your'e a mod. If you think it needs it's own space push TLB on the subject.
You're going to find what you're looking for.

Like you’ve never used meth.

i have...i think it was a total of 4 times....might've been 3

and the last time, it's like 8am, i just wanted to go to sleep and im in bed, flexin away, heart's all skipping beats, and im like man, i can't wait for this to be over.....

and then i remembered, i had a xanax, and that xanax was like the hand of god saying "here now never do this shit again" and that was that for me

it's a beautiful story isn't it?

anyway

god bless

:)
