Olympics...So who's pretending to care about sports they barely knew existed?

^ 1kw you are fundamentally wrong. Judo is all about explosivity and control. All fights will end on the ground, better prepare your kids to throw, submit, and neutralize the situation before learning fancy kicks that will never be effective in a street combat situation.

Just google best judo Ippan's and you'll learn.

Blackhawks are sending the most players from the NHL, go figure because we are pretty much unstoppable. So I'll be watching that. Also I will be tuning in for the possible bombings and terrorist attacks. And what about that wimp Shaun White saying the snowboard course is to difficult, gtfu pussy!

It lacks the explosive power of wrestling, and as a spectacle it reminds me of two slightly overweight gay men undressing each other right before they have sex.

It seems to be the martial art of choice for fat middle age men, and let's face it if a judo exponent came at you wanting to flip you any other martial art worth their salt would lead with a straight jab to the face to keep his distance.
Tedy Riner begs to differ. Modern judoka train harder than Olympic wrestlers, they just don't cut as much.

Men's Hockey

Gold - Sweden
Silver - Canada
Bronze - US over Finland

no rhyme or reason except there's like 6-7 actual teams in hockey so im at like 50/50 odds of that being somewhat correct already

What do you guys think about me making a medal count for each major country?
I'll see if I can fit it into this thread or possibly make a temp sticky? Just a thought, feel free to tell me off lol.

On another note, I'm so pumped for the Men's hockey. It's the best our tourny in the world and the style of play is so finese oriented and beautiful to watch. USA USA USA!!!!!

Why not, it can't hurt :)

I'm currently watching cross country skiing...with Swedish commentary. Pretty funny. :D

These people are amazing athletes, I was watching the downhill skiing earlier, fucking awesome! Speeds of 130+km/h and making it through the gates, doing wicked looong jumps over the crests. I love this shit.

I'm hanging to see if Torah Bright, one of my old snowboarder friends, makes another gold medal in something; hopefully the halfpipe if she competes, she is pretty upset about one of her friends losing their kid recently

rtrain, you make a lot of assumptions and jump to conclusions. you don't like the olympics? great. we get it. don't watch it and stop moaning would be my advice.

slopestyle and pipe are awesome. as a snowboarder, i really appreciate the level at which these guys are riding.

cool to see the skiers in the half-pipe this year, too.

Short Track 1500 meter, women's Super Combined, and men's Moguls are all in tonight. It's a great night for sports guys. Can't wait to watch the Super Combined, it look like such an amazing event to compete in!

I dont care about snowboarding at all, I was much more interested in yesterday/today's speed skating, the cross country, and slope style. Speed skating is something I've always loved; I stopped playing hockey when I was in jr high but I've always been a natural sprinter and a better skater than most hockey kids. I think if I would have been introduced to speed skating at a young age I could have been pretty competitive. Either way, it's a great sport and I'll always live watching it.

it sucks to see the halfpipe competition marred by controversy over the condition of the halfpipe. of course everybody is riding the same pipe but these guys are the best and they should be competing in the best conditions.

shaun white is the greatest and i was sorry to not see him on the podium. the japanese are coming!
