Okay, Here's why I respect Deadmau5 :

Well then that would mean that Deadmau5 is good at producing music that appeals to a large number of people.

Exactly! And obviously he puts on a good SHOW because he went from playing 500-1000 person capacity clubs to 20k capacity massives in under 2 years. I have watched videos of his performances, and listened to his mixes. I have to say, it does get repetitive... but bottom line imo, he puts out a majority of good music, and pleases a majority of his fan's that pay to see him play. And that's what counts. I am catching him in Charlotte, the first week of September and will see with my own eyes how the mau5 does.... but regardless of how he does I still respect him as a producer. Maybe not the BEST out, but a damn good one.

I think the problem with Deadmau5, for me at lest, is the lack of new and original material. He`s got this thing going that im not too big on, and its safe to say (for me at least) his music sucks, to all the real go getters of Electronic music. Deadmau5 can please the simplest crowds I think, while scaring away all the old schoolers with old music and cheap and obvious selections.

I think a good dj and producer people should be excited about, is the already giant Steve Lawler, this past year and all of last he was amazing. He amazed us all that even the old schoolers can still kick loads of ass, Red Carpet Mile? damn, that was a killer for 08.

I listened to his Space Opening Fiesta mix of this year, and thats what a DJ should do!

a good dissapointment would be... Stephan Bodzin... sort of

he was the IT Dj of late 07 early 08 I remember, but lately havent heard anything from him :(

It's not bad but it's not great either. I found it kinda boring but hell if I was rolling I'd prolly like it. But there is nothing genius or epic about it that's for sure IMO. To each is own, that's right for sure here. There are DJ's that touch me a lot more.

But the mouse hat is super cool. Definitely got me interest enough to look him up on utube.

But I give that kid lots and lots of credit and respect. He's still young and has the chance of becoming really good. I mean, he's on his equipment for hours making music that thousands of people will enjoy. That right there gets my respect. He isn't on here like me chatting but does stuff that matters.

He's experimenting with different sounds and seems to really put his heart into what he does which I definitely respect.

And I just looked at his tour schedule, the dude is a workaholic, he prolly spends all his time either playing around with music or playing shows. That's how u become good. U can have talent but if u don't get completely drawn into it u'll be useless. He has the chance to see what really gets people going. He plays around with stuff at home then a day or two later plays it out at the show, if people like it he keeps if they don't he changes it. Much better than all the people making music at home that will never touch anyone's ear.

simply wrong. I guarantee they all stick to some sort of formula when writing music.

rhythm kit -> bassline -> synth riff -> builds -> odds and ends.

sure they might deviate from that occasionally, but that's the way it is done.

LOL that's not a formula. Just because 2 tracks both have a rhythm, a bassline, and a melody doesn't mean that they follow the same formula!

By your logic, all bands that consist of a singer, guitarist, bassist and drummer follow the same formula.

does that line of reasoning actually make sense in your head?

anyway, ok you're right. that isn't how most people write electronic music. good point.8)

I never was a Deadmau5 fan, but after seeing him recently i gotta say the dude puts on a great live show. I wouldnt mind seeing him again.

As dj his is shit, but good producer.Comercial electro isnt my thing but his track Ghosts n Stuff is nice :) I normaly listen dnb...

But dont understand why he dont use vinyls?? My 3 years old brother can push big "synchronize" button and make perfect beatmaching.True DJs play from vinyls and beatmach by their uber hearing, and it isnt that easy like someone said.Try to make perfect beatmaching and then say it is easy...
