Look up bridging, that’s the safest way to work out your back, plus the resulting muscle growth is much more even throughout the back with bridging, deadlifts mostly build it in the lower and upper back, and does not add any backwards mobility like bridging does, backwards mobility, and the increase in muscle mass surrounding the spine greatly reduces the risk of spinal and lower back injuries.
 
Deadlifts are fine if you use proper technique and load, I've also been doing flexion rows for a few years




He also has a video where he discusses benefit of lighter conventional deadlifts with some active flexion and detention rather than holding the spine isometrically but I can't find it rn
