Ohio Man Kills Himself After Son Rats Him Out For Marijuana

May his son burn in the 9th level of hell, reserved for the betrayers.
They may have to make a 10th level of hell hot enough to burn his little rat ass. (umm if you believe in that stuff, which I dont, but at a time like this would like to)

I hope the son realizes his fathers death is 100% his fault.

I hope the school feels prettty good about this... I hope they get columbined.

yea, now he should sleep soundly through the night, no worry about dad and MAYBE getting a possesion charge......

NO theres no excuse for what this little shit did, if he has even a sliver of dignity he'll pick that .22 up and follow suit.

Agh, theres no way I can express as much anger as Im feeling right now.

Loyalty to government over Loyalty to your own blood.

Fuck this country I hope north korea bombs us off the fuckin map someday.

I don't advocate torture, but oh damn I wouldnt mind this kid waking up tied to a chair in my basement.

PS. delete whatever you see fit, this was a fairly emotion based post. ....Also what the hell was the dad thinking . . . . Im gunna find this kids email adress and send him this post.

Hell Ill mail a letter if I have to.

AGHHHHHH.

Hmmmm, I can constantly live in fear of me going to prison for a long time for something I'm not doing, or I can obey the law/everything I've been taught and not get in trouble. Yeah it would suck to rat out your parents, but if you honestly believe you will go down with them, it makes sense to do so. And yes, I know I'm assuming things here (e.g. he may not have really talked to his parents about his feelings or known about the legal standing of himself in this matter).

Absolute, complete and utter nonsense! Sorry bud, but in many families you respect your family and are loyal to them to the end. If you believe you are 'going down with them', you do not, should not, ever even concieve that it would be wise or just to 'nark' on your own parents, or any other kin, brothers and sisters of the world included!

The people of the world are sick and tired of the U.S war mongering! Putting aside the 1 million dead Iraqi's; that the U.S would wage war on so many 'millions' across the face of the earth just because said people possessed a plant, is an abomination no less!

I would put it to you, that to hearken unto lies is indeed the devils work. And the people responsible for this unfortuanate incident are without concience and know only greed. The extent of the victims of U.S war mongering just with regards to 'this' plant alone are callousal, as I am sure you are well aware. But let's not for one moment even begin to suggest that kids, or adults for that matter, whether family or otherwise, should ever be complicit in the 'war mongering'. In order for this world to progress, it is of the utmost importance that people do not lie, cheat or steal - nor should they condone, contribute to, or facilitate the actions of those who do. If good people do not resist the actions of all these pigs, we'll all be living in a stye in next to no time.

This is far from the first time this sort of thing has happened and it will not be the last.

It is a very sad story, especially for the poor child who probably made a very bad decision and did not really understand what he was doing - perhaps oweing to undue pressure from the Gestapo. 'He' will carry this with him for the rest of his life, and is the primary victim here. A victim, created by the U.S war on drugs. Just one of the millions.

Meanwhile, down in Guatemala...their drug Czar and chief of police have just been arrested for cocaine theft 'etc'. Hmmm? I thought Mexico was already a failed state because of the U.S drug war down there? I thought the entire system was awash in corruption because of the U.S drug war? Oh...I hear that Africa is being corrupted more than ever because of the U.S drug war which is now shifted over there? Hmm...Afghanistan and it's opium and cannabis?

What is the reason, do tell, for the U.S seeking to destabalise and ruin so many countries on the basis of the war on drugs?

Am I drifting off topic? Too many rats! It is the bubonic plague I tell you. Be loyal to something, or nothing!

So you would, in your mind at least, go to prison for many years because of something your parents do? That sounds a lot like the fucked up sense of justice found in The Bible, which also preaches obeying one's parents no matter what. Fuck that shit, some parents suck.

If they were thieves, or armed robbers, or rapists, or murderers, or fraudsters, or any numbers of things one might equate with actual crime...then no, I would not necessarily go to prison to protect them.

On the other hand, if they had been growing a 'plant' in their own home...the sanctity of their home...and then the Govt decided they would violate such sanctity and seek to place said parents in a cage...clearly it would be the Govt which was guilty of a crime and not the parents. In such an instance why would I help the Govt comit such a serious crime?

A person would only do that if they were a child who did not understand the situation; a situation which would lead to their parents being caged for nothing but possesion of a plant.

Any one of sound mind though, who decided to 'nark' on their own parents for growing a 'plant', or any narking on any other person for that matter, might very well be ignorant and lacking in real education oweing to indoctrination. But that does not excuse their own criminality.

It could also be that this person believes the government is correct because he has been thoroughly brainwashed by his society.

Thats pretty sad, drastic measures the father took, its shit the son ratted on his own dad but he had been brainwashed to think he was doing the right thing. I think the dad is a pretty shitty guy though because I can't imagine the psychological impact this is going to have on that kid.

Yes, yes I wouldly gladly jump at that grenade.

Without going into too much details, I already have.

Parents house got hit by a fucking raid team, "yep thats all mine"

they got priors, I didnt......Loyalty.

After a long drawn out process, threatened 30 years, ended up on probation.

Amazing what a good lawyer can do to a crap warrant

If I was about to get caught I probably would have done then the same. I will not live my life in cell like an abused animal. I will not subject myself to those who think they have any sort of higher authority over my life. Also I wouldn't want to live in a world where my own kin is blinded enough to throw their family members away with harmful ignorance. Death is the ultimate freedom. I enjoy life, but I don't enjoy having no freedom and if it comes to to it, I'll go all the way.

I know where you're coming from and I agree in some ways, but it's different if you have a kid. Sure the kid shouldn't have snitched, but you can't expect little kids to be smart and to understand that kind of shit. The parents should have made it clear to the kid that he could not tell anyone about the growing, or they'd get in a lot of trouble. If the kid hasn't been told you can't expect him to know.

Also, they weren't going to go to jail, the only evidence against them was a kid's claims, there was nothing at the house.

But back to the point of suicide- if you have a young kid, and you kill yourself because of what that kid did, you are essentially dooming your child to some potentially severe mental illness. The kid's going to have a lot of problems later in life. The father's actions were over the top, it would be different if he didn't do it because of his kid. Having a child adds a new variable to the "death or prison" debate.

I wanna know why he felt the need to snitch on his father?

Was he just a dumbfuck who believed he was doing right?
Perhaps his father was abusive towards him and this was his 'revenge'.

Who knows.....

My bet is on D.A.R.E.

From what I remember they advised you to tell a teacher about any drug use going on, even if it's at home. :|

The Use of Children as Informants

"Children are asked to submit to D.A.R.E. police officers sensitive written questionnaires that can easily refer to the kids' homes" and that "a D.A.R.E. lesson called 'The Three R's: Recognize, Resist, Report' … encourages children to tell friends, teachers or police if they find drugs at home."[30]
In addition, "D.A.R.E. officers are encouraged to put a 'D.A.R.E. Box' in every classroom, into which students may drop 'drug information' or questions under the pretense of anonymity. Officers are instructed that if a student 'makes a disclosure related to drug use,' the officer should report the information to further authorities, both school and police. This apparently applies whether the 'drug use' was legal or illegal, harmless or harmful. In a number of communities around the country, students have been enlisted by the D.A.R.E. officer as informants against their parents."[31]
"In the official D.A.R.E. Implementation Guide, police officers are advised to be alert for signs of children who have relatives who use drugs. D.A.R.E. officers are first and foremost police officers and thus are duty-bound to follow up leads that might come to their attention through inadvertent or indiscreet comments by young children."[32]
As a result, "children sometimes confide the names of people they suspect are illegally using drugs. A mother and father in Caroline County, Maryland, were jailed for 30 days after their daughter informed a police D.A.R.E. instructor that her parents had marijuana plants in their home, according to a story in The Washington Post in January 1993. The Wall Street Journal reported in 1992 that ‘In two recent cases in Boston, children who had tipped police stepped out of their homes carrying D.A.R.E. diplomas as police arrived to arrest their parents.’ In 1991, 10-year-old Joaquin Herrera of Englewood, Colorado, phoned 911, announced, ‘I'm a D.A.R.E. kid’ and summoned police to his house to discover a couple of ounces of marijuana hidden in a bookshelf, according to the Rocky Mountain News. The boy sat outside his parents' home in a police patrol car while the police searched the home and arrested the parents. The policeman assigned to the boy's school commended the boy's action."[33]

Ashamed. When I do my travelling outside the US, I am claiming my Canadian roots.

'Je ne suis pas Américain. Je suis Canadien.'

Does that mean i can claim my dutch/norwegian roots when i travel outside the US because my dads side of the family is dutch and moms side is norwegian??

ha i wish. i wish i lived in the netherlands. or norway... both are supposed to be good countries

I'm with Damien on this, D.A.R.E. teaches that kids should tell about ANY drug use that they see even at home, pretty much using kids as narcs. I remember asking our dare officer if we were supposed to tell them about prescription drugs also and got a cop out answer of "Do what you think is right" that's when I knew dare was a farce however, every time dare came in they also brought "samples" of different drugs. I had more knowledge of drugs at a younger age than both my parents, and they tried to teach me that I should snitch on my own parents, now my mother was and is a medical mj smoker (helps her depression meds work better),if I had listened to dare I'd have narced my own mom luckily I asked my parents and was given the score.

So sad. This kid will have to live with this the rest of his life. Next story will be 'Teenager kills self after he rats on dad who killed himself'

It's tragic but I'll turn this around and argue that a parent shouldn't be using drugs in the first place, especially with all the risks involved...I know that when I was a kid I was vehemently anti-drugs so I can sort of understand why a child might want to score brownie points with the authorities.

this is sad, but hardly an issue of the drug war. this father was clearly mentally unstable. it does not sound like he had his child's best interest in mind at any point, maybe because he was not capable. i imagine a marijuana bust and child endangerment was just the final straw.

and you guys make it sound like you know this kid was old enough to know what he was doing? it doesn't say his age in the article. what if he is in 1st grade? you guys still putting his father's death on him?

especially because he is going to find these dumbass, "legalize it" articles about his father when he gets older.

When I was a youngster, probably 5th grade we had an officer come in.

He had this round disc that he lit on fire, it wasn't pot, at least not that I remember. Probably just cannabis incense but he said "does anyone smell this at their house?"

My friend looks over and whispers "I do but I'm not saying shit"

Good times
