Hell yeah, great job ladies. Candy your after party was sweet, I got that video with the guy flowin with lady bandit, that was tooo cool. Thank you everyone had a great time .I never got to come up and say hi to you
lady 4 [], but Im sure there will be another chance soon. I think I caught a little bit of the flu, and Im just now recovering, but It was worth it.
The security was a little on the moody side, but we still had a blast.
cant wait til divalious3 comes around agian.
Props to the lady's!!!!:)

Thank you Kelley for booking me for D2. I had a really fun time. Sorry I wasn't able to stay longer, but with me being pregnant and all, I really needed to go home and get my rest. Even a few Cleveland peeps came down whom I wasn't expecting to see. I think a couple of them may have taken some pics, and if so, I'll make sure to post them once they're up. Twas very nice to meet the Evolving Records crew too. Thanks again Kelley! =D

/\ same 2 u :)

It was a great night all together. I have say it was pretty wack of the residents (Quantum & whoever) demanding to play an hour slot in the night....at an ALL FEMALE DJs party...how wack & selfish of them.

A lot of the DJs threw down proper...it was a great night of music, vibe, & dancing. I love the venue also...great spot!

thanks

glad everyone had a good time. I apologize bout the barfly guys, but that's been their room for almost 6 months, and while i didn't 100% agree with it, they did give up 90% of the room that nite. Sorry Leah that you weren't told sooner bout playing from 1:30 - 2:30, I'd told Seth a few days prior. Just a minor misunderstanding :( Thanks again to everyone who came out, i'd love to see the pix that you all took!! You can email them to me at [email protected]

Thanks!!

Kelley

First of all…It sounds like everyone had a good time. Wish I could have made it out.

But, if you’re getting a post from me it’s probably [constructive] critism. Sorry I don’t post long threads about the great things about events, but my theory in life is “the positive speaks for themselves and don’t warrant discussion”. It seems that ‘most’ everything went okay. I am concerned about the comments about other DJ’s wanting to play, misunderstandings on room controls, etc.

I have been reading about this event for several weeks. Can someone tell me why this wasn’t all worked out weeks ago? Why would there EVER be a DJ expecting to play that wasn’t booked? Why would the normal promoters of a room have ANY reason to believe they were playing in thus mentioned space the night of thus mentioned event? WHY? WHY? WHY? There’s only ONE reason…poor planning and communication (okay that’s technically two reasons).

I am amazed every single time I hear about someone getting bumped and pushed out of a slot, equipment missing and closing an intended room, and all the other stuff that could have been easily avoided through proper planning. I hear everyone one say “stuff happens”, well it shouldn’t. Everything…YES EVERYTHING…should be locked down days…no weeks…before the event. And with the rare exception of death, natural disaster, and the other such unavoidable circumstances, there is NO EXCUSE.

Promoters: Did you have all the spaces secure in writing with the venue? Does the venue have the rights to represent and dictate what goes on in the entire club; i.e. have they entered into other agreements with other promoters? You should know all of that before you print flyers, book talent, and especially collect a penny from the people you are suppose to be entertaining. People need to get on the ball and start acting in a professional manner with these events, because every bad post, unorganized event, etc. reflects on you and the area scene as a whole. This site is used and viewed WORLDWIDE.

DJ’s: Did you get your time slot secured in writing? If you didn’t, you give the green light to being bumped, pushed back/forward, or general getting the big, stiff hard one by the promoter and you should smile when it happens, because you asked for it.

They’re no ‘friends’ when someone has money on the line. FACT!!!! The whole “trust me” argument goes only as far as the cost to keep it. FACT!!!! The only way to keep EVERYONE to their word is to use CONTRACTS…for every and any aspect of promissory arrangements. Why do people fear contracts? Do they plan to not honor them? Or do they just want to keep there option open, in which case someone gets screwed. Promoters, have your talent sign contracts and you won’t have the no show DJ problem. DJs, sign contracts and you won’t have to “I drove to B.F.E. and got bumped” problem.

I hate to post these threads. I’d rather NEVER post again, because I only read about how GREAT events went. PLEASE, PLEASE, grow up, act professionally, and make events run right and then they and the scene will THRIVE.

No one was bumped, I knew about those 2 playing from the beginning. Venue WAS secure, timeslots were sealed down, all arrangements were done. No one was given a timeslot from 12:30 - 1:30 in Barfly, the room that has been questioned. Everyone played in their assigned room at the right time. I have a feeling this is you Simon. At least you show an intuitive side to the threads.

Much thanks to Kelley for a great time and for having me out . Mad props to Meghan in room 2 who threw down some great tracks.
^jimmy-the only problem throughout the night was the unfortunate fact that you have djs out there that think they are god's gift to earth and that when they walk in the door we should all bow down and hail (and let then have whatever time slots they want because they are god). too bad a lot of people actually left the room when they went
on. (snicker snicker) :) oh well
thanks again kelley for throwing a great event!

ok... maybe i'm being too mean about the barfly guys since they did give up 90%, but... for one night... you would think they could just let it be.
ok..i'm done now.
but..
THANK YOU 4[] for throwing down Adonis-Now way back

glad to have the 3 of you out. I deffo want to have you all back for Diva 3. We're working on a date in Feb. for #3. Working on an int'l headliners contract at the 'mo before i can announce more.

Hey Seth, I tried sending you a PM, but it says your inbox is full.

Being the slut that I am for controversy, can anyone shine more light on what took place with Quantum and Aus10 (I am only assuming Aus10 because they play together a lot at that club. Don’t know for certain nor was his name mentioned here).

Can a promoter or the DJ(s) chime in?

I need to start listening to my mom & friends more often:\

Sometimes I feel like having or bringing up the word contract pushes promotors away, because in their mind they feel like I'm not good enough to request shit. And sometimes that look they give me makes me feel that maybe I'm not. I question, examine & sometimes blame myself (I have a habit of doing that) if that happens. Therefore my mind tips heavy into the "I need to just take this because it my not come my way again". *sometimes being a Libra sucks*

But at the same time when shit happens, your right, I gotta walk thru it, like it smells like roses, and kick myself in the ass later for not having enough confidence in myself. I've been kicking my own ass alot.

=D

Aaron didnt' play that nite......

Reply to Ororo/Chris:

Why would you feel not good enough because you asked for a contract? If the promoter booked you in the first place you are ‘good enough’, or the promoter is a complete and utter fool. You, and every other DJ out, don’t need to be superstar DJ’s to want to get what you were promised by promoters. Contracts are not form-written pieces of paper demanding thousands of dollars, a bowl of ONLY red and green Mike-n-Ikes, and solid gold pots to shit in. A contract is simply a written agreement documenting the terms and conditions agreed upon by BOTH parties, no matter how small those details may be. If you’re being paid $500 or $5, and you care about getting it…get it in writing. If you are promised a timeslot and have 20-30 people come to see you and a promoter bumps you, the promoter gets paid and you look bad…get it in writing. Ororo, you do yourself an injustice by letting promoters walk over you. I see you bring a lot of people out when you play and the promoter gets paid, why shouldn’t you. Work out the details you’re willing to play under and if the promoter won’t sign it, they are shady and will screw you over if they can…and I dare someone to try and argue why a promoter SHOULDN’T sign an agreement guaranteeing the promises they make. If any of you remember that PA 9/11 fiasco a month or so ago, it was my understanding from posts and what I heard people say, that only the DJ’s with contracts played and many more drove up without contracts and were cancelled…who’s at fault?

The point is, every DJ – and promoter for that matter – should NEVER do anything without protecting their interest in writing.

And DJ’s, here’s a little warning as to what could happen without a contract (extreme but possible):

Under the law, if you play at an event in an facility that is not properly licensed and insured by a promoter, and you fell to get in writing from the promoter stating lack of responsibility, e.i. that the promoter has agreed they have taken all proper legal responsibility and you are not responsible for actions that take place at the event, and someone dies due to neglect…in a civil, and maybe criminal, case you can be held liable. It’s true.

Protect yourself!!!!!!

Oh yeah, thanks Kelley for letting me know Aaron didn’t play, but you didn’t respond to my inquiry. If you have a “no comment”, just say so. Some things need to stay under wraps…that’s cool.
