one great way to remedy this particular issue is to make sure in your contract that all promotional materials have to be ok'd before print. i learn new things to put in my contracts every day.

and to women who may be worried about the flyer issues...never be afraid to stand up and take control of how you are represented. whenever asked to play all female parties...there are two questions i ask: what's the name of the event? what are you planning the flyer to look like? (and that benefit thing too...) you are being represented by the images on that flyer, and you have every right to nip really sexist dumbshit before it gets out of hand.
too many times, we as women (and especially as djs in an overfilled market) are afraid to be aggressive in our approaches, because we are afraid of losing precious gigs. believe me, i have turned down gigs because of the sexist promotional tactics planned by promoters, and it was worth losing the gig to know that i stood up for myself.
if any of you new djs ever have questions about this stuff, i know for sure me and lady 4 [] are always down for giving advice. just ask!
and to the girl wanting advice on djing, feel free to drop me a line anytime!
