⫸STICKY⫷ Official "I CANT POST" Megathread....with Mega-answers

It says the same thing when i try post a reply to someone.
Its letting me post this tho...wtf?

Hi. I can't get my authorization email. Have check spam mail etc, changed emails and had it resent many times, with no dice. Help.

i've just manually activated these two accounts. not sure why either of you would have had a problem receiving the activation emails though...

You should get it pretty much right away... be sure to check your spam folders, we've been having a lot of problems with that lately.

Well you posted in support which is good :)

Since I can't PM you it means you still have to activate your account from the email you received at the address you signed up with. Have you received the email?

I'm removing several posts in this thread as posting off topic just to attain post count is very discouraged. So discouraged that we try to make sure such activities become as futile for the poster as they are for people stuck reading idle, off topic posts by ensuring post count from them is forfeited.

^^You, also, are awaiting email confirmation on your part.

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Heads up SUPPORT mods - I don't see it in this thread (in any easily findable fashion), nor in Bluelight Support FAQ-- READ BEFORE POSTING! Seriously_but it is written somewhere that this forum is set so even unregistered, non-activated, and regular members can post in here. We should put that somewhere fairly visible so people understand why they can post in here (to raise any account issues whilst they are unable to login or post in proper forums) but not other places.

garsh...that sounds wordy and confusing. Perhaps a SUPPORT mod can help make it make more sense. I fail.

^ "Please note that users who have not yet responded to the activation e-mail sent to the address they signed up with will only be able to post in the Support forum. To re-send activation e-mail, click here." Maybe something like that?

thanks for the reply enki

It seemed to be a problem with me inserting a ref. to an earlier post in the form #54 ??

Once that was removed I could post.

thanks again, and for wikitip.

Mille-fois merci!

I goofed. That is likely what the server say now for what has been 'bad request' or 406 and other things.

Here is from the Support FAQ:

I am getting an 'Error 406' or a 'Bad Request'

This error means that the server has rejected your request because of its contents. The explanation for this is technical: some sequences of characters and commands are often used by hackers to exploit security problems in software. Therefore, our firewall inspects all page requests to check for possible hacks. This can be compared to a virus scanner. It could be that your post contains some "dangerous" characters. See if your post contains any weird characters or punctuation which could be the problem, and try submitting it again.

The most common reason for this is the use of brackets/parentheses. And the use of the word 'system'. And especially both together. Try copying your whole post to Notepad, and then pasting/submitting it a chunk at a time into Bluelight. That usually highlights the suspected terrorist part of your post. The easiest way to do this is to make a thread in Testing Grounds, then submitting it one paragraph at a time. Once you find the offending paragraph, you can then repeat the process by sentence, then single words, and so on until you find the offending characters.

Another reason you may be receiving this error could be due to the length of your post. If your post is particularly long, you may need to submit it in chunks. A post that copies into MS Word as 6 pages long, for example, will likely cause this error.
