Well i woke up at about 6am to watch the last 10 minutes of Germany Vs Poland

only to dose back off while half trying to watch it

then finding out they scored in the 91st minute when i woke up to watch the today show news at 7:30...

and what a great goal...

Well, Germany are through to the round of 16...
 
Im pretty happy with my tipping thus far.

I have only missed 3 out of a possible 17.

I tipped the draw for Trinidad and Sweden, screwed up by tipping a draw for Togo and Korea. screwed up with France as I expected them to win not draw and got stuffed by Poland losig to Equador.

Very happy with my correct pick of a draw for Tunisia and Saudi.

Might not do as well this next round though.......just dont feel as confident.
 
that 90th minute goal broke many polish hearts today..it's time to start thinking about south africa 2010 already..

Do you really think Americans care about soccer or the World Cup? The only people that play or care about soccer in this country are upper middle class elementary schoolers and immigrants.

Haha maybe. IMO it's because there really isn't a professional soccer culture here. We have pro teams, but no one cares. Kids love it, but many of them just aren't big or athletic enough to play other sports. The average US soccer fan is probably an 11 year old white kid in the suburbs whose mother wouldn't let him go out for the football team.

One time I was really high and I started watching this soccer game. The announcer would only say the name of the player who had the ball. There was like no exposition or anything. So he just kept saying a bunch of names. And they weren't Anglo names. It started to seem like he was speaking in another language that consisted of a series of one word sentences and I got confused and vomited all over my brother's couch.

USA is ranked like fifth in the World? Pretty good considering they're not much of a football playing country.

Australia will beat em though.

I'd like Grid Iron if they didn't have to wear so much protection.

Oh yeah and fucking Ukraine played horribly. Shevchenko was pretty screwed up.Spain deserved that win.

It's a well established fact that FIFA world rankings, which can be fairly accurate for some countries, are completely bollocks when accounting for the US... they can't win outside the US/Central America. They have an absolutely shocking record in Europe, where all the non-South American talent is... they have an artificial ranking because apart from Mexico there really isn't anything else in the CONCACAF group, and they play a lot of games... the more games you play, the more rankings 'points' you get... which is kinda why Australia's ranking is a little artificially low, because no one wants to come down here to play... so we don't get very many games at all... hopefully us being in the World Cup this time will change that... I know that now that we have joined the Asian Federation we will get a lot more games and our ranking will go up :)

England 2 : 0 Trinidad & Tobago

Horrible performance by England for the first 70 minutes of the game. When Rooney was finally sent it, you could see the psychological boost it gave the team and the whole stadium (well, at least the English side of it). Two goals scored in the last ten minutes of play were well deserved for the quality of the last twenty minutes of play. Good to see them through, but if England keeps playing like this, there is no hope. Crouch deserved that first goal; good effort from him.
