yeah, i watched most of that game...

England could of done a lot better, could of really made it a cricket score, but they didnt, which is a bit worrying if you ask me... They kinda went into panic mode when no goals were being scored, when they sent Rooney and Lennon on, taking off Carragher and Owen... Making them only have 3 defenders, with Beckham and Gerrard falling back a bit

Crouch did deserve his goal, he is next to impossible to stop in the air, it had to come sooner or later... luckily for them, it came in the 82nd minute...

Steven Gerrard goal was just fuckin amazing, he always just seems to pull these goals from fuckin anywhere...

Frank Lampard must of had at least 10 shots at goal, very unlucky for him not to hit the back of the net.

John Terry will probably get knighted for that save he did to make sure the score was 1-0 T&T

And well, For T&T its hometime... well basically, they played the game they were forced to play, everything ran of Yorkie, and they just didnt have the strikers to finish it off for them, or the accuracy of the ball hitting the strikers...

I thought they finished well with that Cornell Glen coming on, he gave all 3 defenders a bit of trouble... Maybe if they start with him in their last game, they might leave the cup with a point or 3...

Now Equador, Germany, and England are through, Sweden should feel semi confident about getting through also...

Im guessing that Argentina, and Netherlands and Mexico will go thru also.

its going to be a few sleepless nights over the weekend watching soccer again...

note to self, ring boss on weekend and ask for monday off
 
Wow, so Argentina beat Serbia 6-0.

Considering Serbia only conceded 1 goal through 10 qualifying matches to get here, and to allow themselves to be eliminated so meekly, I wouldn't take too much from that result. It just shows that when a team gets on a roll, and the other team had nothing to play for, the goals will come easily.

I'm looking forward to the Netherlands vs Argentina match so much now.
 
im happy i stayed in my PC room and got updates from donny dont...

bring on the Netherlands game.. so i can lie in bed... but i will pass out..

I agree on Argentina, together with Spain they're the best playing teams atm. Brazil dissapointed, it wasn't the power play you'd expect from Brazil, granted that Croatia isn't the weakest of teams, they played pretty good for their standards, unlucky in their finishing as well, but Brazil should've exploited that, they didn't.

And Germany? Don't make me laugh. They're probably in their easiest Group ever, 2 goals from Costa Rica is worrisome, Poland gave a good battle, Germany deserved to win based on effort, but it wasn't convincing, lot's of goals doesn't mean anything.
 
I am mighty happy with my $100 on the Argies to win paying $10 ( it was a few weeks ago). Super slick passing game, and they can inject someone like Messi off the bench who hasn'yt played for a month or so and then carve the Serbs up (admittedly a man down by then).

Their only worry is the Latin "sook" when they face a physical team. Not that they wouldn't match such a team, only they are more likely to snap and see red (if that last sentence makes any sense).

Ah good old predictable England, scrappy enough to get through to the knock out and give their fans plenty to hope for. Now watch them implode (any takers for 1/4 final shoot out or a flood of cards to decimate them of class in a semi?). Rooney has spent far too long on the side line without the risk of another ugly street crawler to come forward to the press and disrupt the rest of the team. Or maybe Owen having his kneecaps attacked by Russian bookmakers who are owed money ;)

Hmm... I dunno. I was looking forward to it, but with both teams already certain to qualify for the round of 16 already, there doesn't seem like much will be riding on the outcome of this match.

Actually, with Argentina now having a +5 goal difference on Netherlands, the top two places in Group C are already determined, unless the Dutch win by five goals or more (lol), this game is going to be pointless.

Feel sorry for Serbia & Montenegro, they were never going to advance in the Group of Death but no one deserves to be reamed 6 - Nil like that.

As for England, sure they'll lose in a shootout in the quarter or semi-final, but that's why it's so much fun to support them! :)

Not quite :) - if the Dutch win they'll have 9 points, Argentina 6. Even if the Dutch win 1-0. So there's still a lot to play for. Especially as the top team in their group plays the second team in Group D - probably Mexico.

So the Dutch should go all-out for the win, to ensure they face Mexico instead of Portugal. Argentina only need a draw, so might play more defensively. But from the Dutch point of view, a draw is as bad as a loss by any margin - so they might as well go for it, risk losing 3-0 or 4-0, in the hope of winning.

It would have been so cool to see Iran battle it out for longer....
and it double sucks that tomorrow nights game is at twelve here, if it was three like the east coast you could go to bed and get up for it, but this way if there's the faintest possibility of working then the tv has to be banned....banned....I think I am going to have to wrap it in gaffa tape....

then wake up in a sleepy haze and fall asleep again in 10 mins...

as I am a relief teacher I am pretty cert I am going to get the phone call...the killer will be when I don't and I didn't stay up just in case!
