^^ exactly... and to be honest i think everyone in the team was a little scared around goals... you see how often they got to the top of the box and just stood around doing little mini-passes until they got intercepted... and no one moved! it was pretty shocking, but i rkn if brazil win easily, then when we play them we might just get one or two first half goals on them, and even hold off for the win... fingers crossed to the boys.

go easy on the hate, i'm just being honest...realistic. i understand we are a "soccer is for faggots" nation, but the quality of our game is poor even taking this attitude into consideration.

i really want the team to win, i just can't fathom why we have to suck so badly. why is it so hard to string passes together and send people on runs? why can't bresciano perfect set pieces? guus is awesome, he has elevated our side like no other coach so far, however, he can only work with what he is given. the scouts have to get their asses on the road as far as i'm concerned. i have no doubt there are kids out there in the local regional leagues playing better than a great deal of those in the national side, kids that have not let pressure get to them, nor injury. kids that play like it's xbox.

as i said previously... is 3rd division in england better than 1st division out here?

Awesome. Awesome. Awesome....

Except for the amazingly biased commentary, which was kinda funny....I shouted when the Cahill scored his first, screamed when he got his second, and when Aloisi became a footballing god for the second time, I performed a short, interpretative dance to show my true appreciation.

Can't wait for Brazil....can't wait for Croatia....can't stop thinking 'maybe if the gods are smiling' we'll go even further than the semis!

How can you say we suck so badly? The first 45 minutes weren't too crash hot, but so what? Give them a little slack dude. Of course the game wasn't perfect, but it was far from poor.

Apart from that dodgy goal, our defence did what they had to do, our attack kept the pressure on the Japanese (with 2 shots hitting the woodwork, could of easily been 2-1 before the last 3 goals) and we dominated possession for the game, so what do they have to do to make you think they don't suck? 10-0? 8(



Also, I just heard on the radio that the Referree went to Mark Viduka after the Japanese goal and said he'd made a mistake and he apologised, because he didn't call a foul. Bring in the Third Umpire! =D ;)

we are currently ranked what??? 42nd in the world...

we have beaten the best team in Europe (even though they didnt make WC06)
We drew with the 3rd best side in the world (Netherlands)
We have now beaten a team that is ranked something like 14th or some crap like that in the world...

Fair enuf, it wasnt the prettiest win in the world, but if memory serves me correctly, a win is a fuckin win, we are 3 points on Japan and maybe at chance at 2 points and on top of the group after the Brazil/Croatia game...

There was a stage of the game last night, before we even scored where we strung at least 20 passes together, if not more, fair enuf, it may of come back to the defenders at stages, but fuck, the ball was at our feet...

We dominated possesion all game, there was not a moment where Japan would of been over 48% of possesion, espically field position...

We had at least 15 shots on goal, if not more... The japs not even getting into double figures

and to make it simple, we scored 3 fuckin goals (albeit late) to there 1 controversial goal...

Now, well, that goal shattered me, i was bitterly depressed and extremelty argo, when it got pointed back to centre field... but deep down, you knew they had it in them, to at least put 1 away, to get that point, Tim Cahill is just the perfect scraps player, he just seems to be fuckin everywhere when it comes to messyness in the box...

I would of been more than happy with a 1-1 draw then losing to a dodge fuckin goal, but when Timmy put in his second, and it was a fuckin screamer no doubt, brought tears to my eyes, and joy to my heart knowing that we got ya's karma is a fuckin bitch, you tell us we play dirty, take that you sick whinging dive taking fucks.. and then Aloisi just all class, he made it look simple, like they had nothing all game...

The game changer again i think was Josh Kennedy, his height is a real issue for all defenders, and his ability to control the ball from the air is amazing...

They really have to consider Luke Wilkshire to not start, espically with the impact Tim Cahill had on the team, even though Tim did make a great fuckin super sub, if we had his intensity from the start, it would of been a different game.

I say, bring on Brazil, after a win like we have had, our players should be on top of the world, fair enuf Brazil will probably kick the living shit out of us, but hey, if we are going to get beaten, let it be by the best side in the world.

I honestly think we have a hope of at least a draw, if not a lucky win...

Only time will tell...

For a 'soccer-crazy' nation, I saw very little hype in Japan for the world cup. When the world cup is on their soil (like last time) or they are winning then a few more people are crazy and watching. From what I've seen so far, a much bigger frenzy is occuring in Australia.

If Japan do win a game, god help me, 'cause that's all I'll see on the TV for the next 6 months straight, just like 1 medal they got in ice skating last winter Olympics...she's still doing the variety show circuit here....yawn.

My students will not be happy with me today...

After watching USA vs Czech Republic last night as well, the Czechs looked absolutely awesome. The commentators called it 'total football', and it really did look just easy for them. USA didn't stand a chance.

If Australia does get through to the knockout round I really hope we face anyone other then the Czechs (preferably Italy).

It'd be awesome for us to play and absolutely DESTROY the US in the 2nd round... but for that to happen, either the US has to top their pool and we come 2nd in ours, or we have to top our pool and the US come 2nd... now the US have already lost to the Czechs, which although doesn't mean they can't top their group, makes it quite difficult... we on the other hand still have a long way to go to determine if we actually make it out of our group, let alone top it... we still have Brazil to face and all that...

But it would be a dream 2nd round match, Australia vs the arrogance and shite of the US. No 5 in the world? Yeah, what. the. fuck. ever.

Same thing almost happened to me...but I reasoned with her and now she only has to pay me 500 Yen ($5) from our little wager. I was allowed access to bed, however that's where the access ended.:\

What a fucking 36 hours it has been in Germany, the train from Frankfurt to Keiser with 1000+ aussie over 12 carriages, the drinking in the streets, the countless singing and chating, the build up , the agony inside the stadium, the joyous rapture of three goals in eight minutes, the post game driniking and the train ride back to Keiser. I´ve taken some photos that could make any magazine cover, so much colour, passion and emotion.

BEST FUCKING TIME EVER. This is better than mdma (or any drug for that matter) has or could ever be.

I'd put money on you doing it as well. However, I think the liklihood of that match-up happening is pretty scant. I would imagine Brazil coming top of your group and... well, let's face it, the US will barely scrape second in theirs if they're lucky.

The FIFA officials must have suffered some sort of collective brain haemmorage on the day they were handing out rankings. The USA stink. Plain and simple... they suck.

The USA should go back to playing its macho sports (which, ironically, include shoving large amounts of foam under every orafice, wearing body armour and protective kevlar helmets). Either that, or they should get back to their 'World Series'.... in which the the rest of the 'World' doesn't bother playing.

Great results for Australia though... I'm really chuffed for them.
 
Having spent the weekend near Lithgow riding motor bikes and Monday night in a tiny pub in Lithgow to watch the match, I am rather strunned to come in here and find people knocking us and not only that but knocking the first half performance.

Our first hjalf was just a thing of beauty in my opinion...........There was skill aplenty and we reaqlly tore the Japs to bits which showed in all the stats other than the one that counts.

The Japs were struggling from the outset and other than a 15 minute period of the second half, they offerred nothing.

Australia based on that performance really deserved a 5-1 win.

Brazil will be a tough opponent but you just never know...........should we lose I hope its by a small margin and no yellows.
