Cocu got kicked in the knee, van Bommel got kicked from behind by Wilkshire, van Bronckhorst got muffled into the grass by the same guy, the only injury that wasn't really due to the Aussies was Sneijder. It's supposed to be a friendly, not a serious match. They played pretty rough, that's really not the problem, but those fouls were dirty.

I agree. No Sterjovski. Please. He was awful against Greece... although he did make some good runs into space, he had absolutely no finishing whatsoever. Waste of space. srsly.

CB.

Viduka never deserves to take another penalty again in any division in any club in the world...

its such a liability... its pretty sad when you get a penalty, notice who is taking it and have no confidnece that it will go into the back of the net whatsoever...

lucky Tim come running in at the speed of light

Was a very rough match, but i guess you cant really go in soft...

great keeping that kept us in the game, otherwise i think it could of really blown out, spider is going to have to hope Schwarzer gets and injury or something (Touch wood he dont), coz i dont like his chances otherwise.

I didnt think it was all that rough at all really.

If you think that was rough then wait till u see some of the South American teams playing.

Wilkshire was a bit unlucky in that he lunged at a ball from a position on the ground.........he didnt mean to get the player. However he was correctly carded for it.

I think Van Basten summed it up well when he said he had no problems with the Aussies being tough and that they helped remind his own team that it was a game for men.

There is no doubt we were outclassed but the result will hopefully provide much confidence for the lads before the real deal.

I am much more confident now that we may make it through the first round.

All in all a good hit out.

I never saw how Cocu got injured, I saw him go down but that was it. After he left, Australia was able to at least do something in their own half. An ugly performance, for sure. Grella and Wilkshire are the almost as bad as Kevin Muscat when it comes to tackling. I don't have any love for that sort physical play.

A very flattering score for the Aussies. Australia really showed how pants they are once they have to start using some of their second team players. Wilkshire and Sterjovski simply cannot play a part in any of the games in Germany, they are dreadful.

totally. somebody sack the australian talent scouts as well. seems to be that if you play anywhere outside of the country at club level you are apparently suitable material for the national side. bollocks.

i don't think we should be so hard on viduka. as far as i'm concerned he's carrying a lot of weight on those shoulders, which is not fair to him or the country. schwarzer is fucking superb and no doubt he saved us from a massive defeat.

i fear for australian football when the handful of notables decide to hang up their boots.

i know this is going to be a very biast opinion BUT

i just remembered how annoyed i was getting with Emerton's game last night also, in all honesty, the man is a midfielder... clear as day, he loves running up that line, and getting the ball in there.

then you have someone like Mark Milliagn, who has played as a defender all his life, and plays a vital role in the Sydney FC right hand side defence, fair enuf, he is 20 years old, never played a game in the senior league of national teams, but has gone from the under 16's all the way up and know the role well!

Wouldnt hurt to see what happens??? Espically in these warm up/trial games?

I was actually glad to see Wilkshire get sent off, his tackles are a disgrace. I'll never forget the time he broke Jamie Carragher's leg, send the karnt back to lowly Bristol!

not trying to start an argument but if i remember rightly, wasn't it lucas neill who broke carragher's leg?

probably my least favourite socceroo if only for the fact that he comes across as a violent, arrogant cunt

mazdan - by the sounds of things in smh.com.au today

they dont have a chance, they are going to experiment with a 5 man backline...

Consisting with Moore, Neill, Popovic in the middle
Lazaradis on the Left and Emerton on the right.

I guess they have a decent chance of being subbed on then?

Is anyone watching Liechtenstein - Australia right now? I've watched 20 minutes of the second half and my god what a horribly boring game. Even with this much space Aussies can't get the position play right, they're still way too quick to play the ball forward, there's no control in the game.

Yeah it wasnt good was it.

However for me there were a number of positives.

Josh kennedy looked great even before he scored..........seemed to have a bit more time on the ball than any of our other strikers.

And he looks good in front of goal as well................I suspect he could be the big name to come out of these finals.

My mate Beauchamp scored 15 mins or so and provided the lead up for the third goal.

Chopsys mate milligan got a run as well.

Plenty to work on and to be honest i would have been more worried if everything was perfect as the chances of that twice in a row are not good.

No Im happy and looking forward to a match we must win.

Apparently I missed the last 2 goals after I wrote the above reply, wonder how it went. But from what I saw, damn. That much space on the midfield and after one triangle they had to play the ball forward again, where there's this wall of defensive players where you can't get through. I just got annoyed with the game and changed the channel.

Let's hope you guys do better at the WC.

that was a dismal effort to say the least...

the only player that looked like they really wanted to be there was Josh Kennedy when he came on. Hopefully we can use him the same way in the cup, just as a super sub that comes on and get his head onto the ball, coz it did wonders

Nothing seem to have been going right, there was no communication in the backline what so ever by the looks of things, fair enuf they were double marking anyone that got to close to the box, but we must of had options somewhere???

It was good seeing the reserves gettings a run, i undestand that they are trying to bleed some young players in sarkies and the other fella, cant really pick his name at the moment, but yeah..

I was stoked to see Millsy get on, i was happy i stayed up for the duration of the match to see him get his run, as i spoke to him earlier in the night, and said he would be on for sure!

As im sure MD was when Beauchamp got on!!!

If we play like that in any of the games in the group stage, i wouldnt like our chances, what happened to the team that played Greece and everything kinda stuck...

no

i posted a few pages back with time for all around australia for all games

CB - fuck all people have joined, i might put in my tips if i could be fucked doing it... otherwise...
