Pats receivers need to catch the ball. The drop by Welker was understandable, Collinsworths assertion that he catches that ball "100 times out of 100" was laughable, it was a very difficult catch.
Branch and Hernandez have no such excuse though. If Branch had made that catch on the final drive he could have run for daylight, even though he had the clutch 4th down conversion.... you just have to make that catch, period. Same goes for Hernandez. That one that bounced off his palms must have sent some patriots fans to the hospital.
I was kinda in and out of watching the game until the last 10 minutes or so, but those last 10 minutes were pretty epic. The Manningham grab on the sidelines, the Bradshaw accidental TD, the no-call on the (to me) obvious PI. The dropped passes on the final drive, and a hail mary last ditch effort on the final play.
Giants were very lucky that they recovered their fumbles. Pats could have easily won this game. They need to draft a wideout or three in the offseason. Bradys only got a few good years left and if he wants to maintain the perennial contender status for the pats he is going to need someone who can stretch the field a little bit.
Overall I have to say im glad the Giants won, and im glad it was a close game.

I think a healthy Gronkowski would have made the difference in this game. It is amazing how healthy the giants have been over the last couple months of the season.
Its crazy to think about how close Brady has been to being considered unquestioned greatest of all time QB. If it weren't for the incredible 4th down helmet grab on 07, and the close loss yesterday he would have a full hand of rings.
And now people are calling Eli better than his big bro... what a joke. No doubt he has cemented himself as a great QB, and will definitely be a hall of famer now, but better than Peyton? Not a chance.

I expected a little more from you.....but the Giants probably expected more out of the Patsies too.
Fail all around for the Patsies and all their fans. Its okay though, the Patsies have 6 built-in wins every year thanks to their putrid division. Not a bad consolation prize to look forward to every year.
FWIW: 3 SB wins before spygate, 2 SB losses since. Just sayin'.
^ Their division isnt great or anything, but its not putrid. As much as I hate them, the jets are a pretty good team. I would say the AFC south and West are weaker.
Oh and the NFC west is definitely not the worst division in football anymore. The last half of the season the 49ers, seahawks and Cards were all takin names, without an elite QB amongst them.

the sanctimoniousness of a steelers fan - whose team couldn't get past the broncos (the broncos!) in the first round the the playoffs - giving a pats fan shit because the pats lots in the superbowl to the team with the best wr corp in football* is lost on him...
the loss is tough but the giants deserved to win. they played a great game. the patriots have an afc championship in consolation.

I think the Giants deserved to win it this year, finishing so strong. The injury to Gronkowski just showed how one dimensional the Pats been all season. Ravens or Pollard in particular, did the Giants a big favour by taking out their big weapon, especially after seeing what Vernon Davies did to their secondary two weeks earlier.
Gisele is talking through her skinny ass. Brady had as many bad throws as good ones. I was surprised how they were ahead at HT considering how poor they played for the first 25 minutes. Bradys pass to nobody for the Safety was an abysmal start. Imagine how the media would react if Flacco had begun a game that way nevermind a Superbowl.
The INT he threw was horrible, almost the exact same 4th quarter play against the Ravens in Foxboro and if Lee Evans could hold onto a ball would've lost them the game. The INT on Sunday he could've hit Hernandez for a first down or thrown it away, but instead made an injured Gronkowski run 50 yards. Horrible play. The Welker pass with 4 mins left was Bradys fault. Welker was in 5 yards of space with no defender on him and Brady wasn't under pressure. Horrible play.

best ad would go to the Chevy VS Ford post-apocalyptic, raining frogs advertisement (even though I used to be a Ford man)
first, I will give credit to both the Giants and the Pats. they both got to this point due to great coaching and most importantly being healthy. although the Giants seemed to get decimated in that SB, the Pats were almost perfect. and come on, enough Steelers losing to the Broncos babble. the Steelers personnel were just about cut in half, and that's why the Broncos won. it's football, it happens
this year was the year of the QB and the year of the TE. the Patriots do not have as good as a team as they used to have, when they could actually win a SB. however, Gronkowski was out - and that beast of a TE was essentially the entirety of their offense... and that SB showed that Gronk might be the only great skilled player on offense the Pats have. Green-Ellis, Welker, Hernendez are all good players that a great player in Tom Brady then makes into - another great player
and don't get me started on New England's Edelman and Woodhead - I hate seeing football players that are half the size of me. it takes the mystique right out of it

I found the Super Bowl to be kinda boring. The Pats did indeed miss some big opportunities, but I think a lot of that had to do with the Giants D-Line getting into Bradys head, resulting in him throwing some passes that were not typical of him. Thank god they didn't score after Bradshaw "fell" into the end zone instead of allowing the Giants to kill the clock more. Brady made a horrible decision in throwing that deep ball to Gronk that was intercepted by Chase Blackburn. The Patriots did a good job eliminating the deep threat, but when it came down to it, Eli made that perfect pass to Manningham. They could try to shut down 2 receivers, but not all 3.
They are saying that Jacobs and Manningham won't be back next year, and I'm not too mad about that. Manningham doesn't have that good of hands, so he isn't that hard to replace, and if Hixon stays healthy he can take over that role. As for Jacobs leaving, he is already past his peak so if he doesn't get offered much elsewhere, he may stay. I'm thinking that Osi will re-sign, so it will mostly be the secondary that needs help. Terrell Thomas will be back next year, and he led the Giants in tackles last season, so he will be a big help in the safety position.
The Giants have done pretty well in the draft since Tom Coughlin has been the coach. That's what I have loved about the Giants, they don't go out buying big named players, and instead they develop from within. They just have to focus on the secondary, maybe get another linebacker in there. As for the LB position, Goff will be back from his injury, Boley is solid, Jaquan Williams is a Rookie up and coming star IMO, and they have some potential in their rookie LBs Spencer Paysinger and Greg Jones. Then they just need to replace Manningham and Jacobs if they leave. They have back-up players in those positions (DJ Ware and Da'Rel Scott at RB, and Jerrell Jernigan, Devon Thomas, and the aforementioned Domenik Hixon at WR).
Overall I am confident in the future. The team really was plagued by injury this year, specifically the defense, which is why it took them a while to get going since they were just getting used to playing together. I'm hoping the rookie CB Prince Amukamara steps up his game next season, since he was very hyped up coming into this season, but I was less than impressed by him. I'm sure it takes more than a season for defensive backs to adjust to the NFL, so we'll see how he does in the future because other than Corey Webster (who is alright) the other 3 starting secondary players aren't that good. Deon Grant is getting old, and Ross and Rolle were pretty disappointing. The D-Line should still be superb, especially if they can re-sign Osi.
