Yeah I'd say it's definitely something it's best to talk about beforehand. If he's super old fashioned it's probably a no. My bf was really chuffed and said I was the only girl who'd given him flowers even though he'd given his exes flowers all the time. He was kind of bitter about that.

I'm going to buy him a nerf gun soon but I'm not sure where to get any in the city. I went to Big W and none there. Anyone know of anywhere? Nerf stands for: None Expanding Recreational Foam, apparently :D

Need help - perth :)

Hey Everyone,

I hope this is in the right section!!!

Can anyone from Perth tell me where to get eye contacts (No power on them, simply for cosmetic reasons - hiding dilated pupils haha)

Thanks in advance! - Also a price if you know off hand.

Im looking for bright blue ones

keep the love.

wh. <3

If you want decent ones that that won't scratch or irritate your eyes you're still better off getting them through an optometrist. Otherwise check out a large pharmacist/chemist, or eBay or google for them.

Make sure you keep your fluids up while you wear the mand have some contact-safe eye drops on hand (some eye drops will cause a build up on the contacts) because if you get dehydrated you contacts will still to your eye and you will have to sickeningly peel them right off your eye. This has happened to me, and it was very unpleasant.

Did you all know that semi soft wood cuttings from Roses can hold for a long time. Long stem cut flowers are a great example. You can get the stems to strike roots even though they have been cut for a couple of days. My mates wedding bouquet was made from long stems and her parents have a shrub growing in their garden. Most commercial rose bushes are grafted though :)

Ever seen a thornless rose?

If anyone is interested my favourite flowers are tulips.

I don't get guys who don't want or appreciate flowers as gifts. Most gardeners and landscapers are male so surely they don't all do it for the love of compost?

Ohhhh the OT thread how I have missed you like I missed my sanity.

I'm interested for shizzle Busty. Shame you live in Vegas because Tulips are a bitch to grow here. I have met blokes that have got them to flower in pots here though. You could keep them dry here in a shadehouse in summer, worth a try. You tried some bulbs yet mate?

I'd probably laugh my arse off if a bloke gave me a bunch of flowers, but appreciate it in the end. If Busty gave me a bunch of flowers I would appreciate it straight away, native flowers even the more so ;-)

I'm at war against all exotic plant species so if a girl gave me any general flowers from a florist I would probably stomp on them. Not that I wouldn't appreciate the gesture.

As a cut flower, Geralton Wax is probably the most common native.

It's Western Australian, so you don't see it in the bush on the East coast...but grafted ones grow here. The Uni I went to were developing lots of new Cultivars of them....

Flannel Flowers, Warratas and Banksias also make a pretty good cut flower.

I'd prove you wrong with pictorial evidence but I'm on my phone. But if you're bored check out Viminaria juncea, Ricinocarpus pinifolius, any Tetratheca, Boronia ledifolia and Bauera rubioides, Kunzea ambigua and capitata, Indigofera australis and Bossiea heterophylla as a microcosm of a start.

No need to prove me wrong, you learn something every day. Wax flowers... a number of different Genera hey? I haven't grown many heath plants, mainly rainforest species. 'grin'

I think it's spelt Geraldton, Which is in WA.

I'm adding that to the list of things to research. I wish I had a better library :)

^ Fucking whoa at the commercial crop photo.

You two could do some Open Gardens up at Toowoombah, Busty.

Your stupid European flowers are killing this country.

Behold the power of Australia you unpatriotic prick!

I'll stop there but I could show you hundreds of plants that are beautiful, native, and don't drive our own amazing endemic plants into extinction.

And whilst pretty, looking at a garden carefully sculptured is like standing and looking at centrepoint tower. It's man made.
