Paul Ends His Campaign

Saturday, March 8, 2008; Page A08

Rep. Ron Paul has ended his campaign for the Republican presidential nomination, breaking the news in a seven-minute video posted on his campaign Web site Thursday. The Texan, who ran on a libertarian platform and saw an outpouring of financial support via the Internet, tried to soothe anxious supporters by letting them know that his "campaign for freedom will continue in this new phase." While his campaign will not formally organize events, he encouraged supporters to continue to work on behalf of a broader movement.

"I don't mind playing a key role in this revolution, but it has to be more than a Ron Paul revolution," he said. "Our job now is to plan for the next phase."

Paul campaign spokesman Jesse Benton confirmed that the video means the candidate recognizes he will not be the nominee.

"Winding down" is how Benton described the next phase of the campaign. "Dr. Paul acknowledges that he will not be the nominee but will continue to travel to address supporters and encourage grass-roots activism to influence the process and return the Republican Party to its traditions of limited government and personal freedom," Benton said.

So, what's this next phase going to look like? A book tour, of course. Paul tells supporters in his video that the message of liberty that suffused his bid for president will soon be available for study at home. "A more detailed outline of this message has now been put into book form, titled 'The Revolution: A Manifesto,' and can be pre-ordered on Amazon.com," he said.

Paul also noted that he will continue to raise money -- something he did better than just about any other Republican during the past year -- for his political action committee and his educational nonprofit, the Foundation for Rational Economics and Education (FREE).

His final words to supporters: "Let us all stick together in this great cause of liberty and show the love that we all share for our country and the Constitution. Thank you for joining in."

So do yourself a favor, take you're bullshit stories, covered by people with an agenda, and shove it up your ass.

Now you're just getting annoying, just refuting because you can...

It isn't over, it has only just begun...

Let bygones be bygones because this time everyone is going to have no choice but to get involved. trust me.

Republican party are a bunch of corrupt power hungry sociopaths...

It's nice to see that the Democrat Party is full of tolerant individuals. God forbid someone has a different point of view then you.

I like how all the Democrats sneered at Bush for being some kind of drunk cokehead back in his youth, but when Obama does coke, it's okay.

What that he wants to go to war for over a 100 years? Please don't say your another lunatic that supports this Bush clone.

We are still in Japan and Germany, and we have bases in virtually every country in the world. Also, Iraq technically isn't a war, the day of highest casualties doesn't even compare to Vietnam or WW2. And military expenditures as a percentage of our GDP is 3.7%, while in WW2 it was almost 40%.

Why are you so intolerant? I have a different opinion than you, so you call me a lunatic? Please, when you have to resort to name calling it really makes your argument look good.

The Republican Party actually is home to many libertarians. Most libertarians who enter office just run as a Republican, since the ideals are much closer. The only difference between Republicans and Libertarians are social policy, and even then, you can still agree. You can be a libertarian and disagree with abortion just as much as a Republican, although the reasoning would be different. On a federal level though, social policy shouldn't even be discussed.

Best way to get libertarian policy through is vote Republican.

Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians. It's all the same. Labels. So insecure people can choose a side.

It's carnvial to keep people like you busy. So enjoy it while it lasts...

It all ends come November. When everyone is like, OHHH, 9/11 was a hoax, AS-IS this event taking place right in front of my eyes.

PS. I by-passed your war statistics above, because you're contradicting yourself in your own post and you don't even seem to notice. If were still in all those countries, what does it say about all those previous wars? That they were all ploys for a greater agenda as well...

Can you picture Obama dropping ecstasy? lol.
That would be almost as funny as smoking a joint with Hillary.
Shouldn't the President of the United States be allowed to use whatever drugs he or she wants to? I bet W. does, and if so, I wouldn't blame him for it.
It's like the title of that book on libertarianism, "Ain't Nobody's Business If You Do."

Tell that to the DEA, or better yet all those greedy little pricks "investing" all that Columbian cash on the NYSE.
