NZ - 'Revolutionary' legal high law means state regulated drug market

I wonder if this new system will only cover recently outlawed legal highs or if it also pertains to the drugs that the legal highs were replacing due to bans. There's already plenty of clinical data on MDMA, psilocybin and LSD.

They should just legalize all the older substances that we know more about now and can safely use assuming consumers excercise responsibility, for example portugal leglized everything from budd to heroin and found that usage dropped across the board, instead of having young people consume all these substances that we know little about just stick witht he classics

This can be good or a bad thing. There isn't enough research in my opinion about these synthetics. If anyone knows a good article please respond with one. I personally have never tried any of the legal highs. The legal highs if they are ones that make you feel to redose every half hour, then this will not be a good thing and in return may hurt the war on drugs. That's if these legal synthetics are harmful. If so we will see more negativity to the banner what all substances fall under, drugs. It depends how the youth will handle this, whatever is the easiest to get, young people will go after in my experience. Let's see where it goes. This might make it easier for other synthetics to slide by. This isn't the best place to start in my opinion, but a big step.
