nurofen plus-bullshit?

no there is no proof. but there never is. so fuck it, eat those N+'s!!

on a serious note: it's fine, i tried it out a while ago with no problems. Oh, apart from a real case of depression a couple of days after. But hey, it felt nice.

Look, this has been proven to be true on numerous occasions. We don't have much proof that people often get munchies on weed, or what it smells like, other than collective experience.

Collective experience has told us the following: The codeine is in the N+ side of Nurofen Plus because the two chemicals can degrade faster and react with each other if thoroughly mixed.

Pharm companies don't really care all that much about the possibility of someone buying ten packets of the stuff and sitting around with a magnifying glass and a sharp knife.

It's a bother to do, not really cost effective in the end, and the high is nothing that special. Don't get me wrong, I like codeine and do it from time to time, it is just not something that is going to cause an epidemic, and they know that unless misuse is widespread and publicized they can happily make these pills any way they want.

On a related topic, I can't fucking find them in Germany :(

I recently bought a $4 pill splitter from my local pharmacy. The pills come apart like butter if you line them up properly in the splitter. Takes about 5 seconds per pill. Very easy to split it straight down the centre.

$15 aus for 48 of the fuckers = 614.4mg of straight codeine in 5 minutes!

That's it, I'm off to the pharmacy to get some pills to cold water extract, Nurofen or no Nurofen it is time for codeine ;)

Just noticed (in UK) that they seem to have changed the design of these tablets and you can no longer split them ! When you try to split them they crumble and collapse. The new tablets are either the same as the old ones but with the two halves stuck together, or they have the two ingredients mixed. These new tablets come in a different package (it has a image of the tablet on the outer packaging). They seemed to have appeared v.quickly, my local Boots had the good ones last week and now they only have these shitty ones, which leads me to suspect that the manufactures have gotten wise to the junky trick and decided to put an end to it. Gutted.

at&c, they are the same as always. If you do it carefully they split in 2 nicely, without crumbling. I've been doing it for weeks now.
I think they just have crappy batches and good batches. I had a crappy batch that crumbled a lot about a month ago. All the others (mostly bought from Boots. I swear they are getting wise to me now, must start going to Tesco) have split easily.

You're exactly right, there are different batches - some of which are a bitch to split in half (ie they just crumble pathetically) and then there are batches that split perfectly, strange.

And it's not because they've changed the manufacturing process, because the time frame on which you get good batches versus bad ones is all over the place, it's luck of the draw really.

Either way, a bit of patience doesn't go astray, once you get the hang of splitting them, it's all good :)

I'm still not sure, ever since the new packaging. I've yet to buy a pack that splits easily in two clean halves, whereas previously I'd only occasionally buy a pack that didn't split.

Im in the UK and I have sucessfully split and got high on them since the new packing. They have just redesigned the pack as they have now brought out long lasting ones, and some other one I forget.

New pack, same pills. You must have just got a shitty pack.

Fair enough, luck of the draw I suppose. Don't know why I bother with them anyway seems codeine's a pretty shitty buzz.

It is worthwhile to remind people at this point that it IS possible that at some point the company will change the design of the pills with little or no warning.

So if you do get a batch in a totally different package that looks different and splits completely differently, you might want to make absolutely sure before you take a large amount of them - aiming for 200mg of codeine and accidentally taking the APAP along with it could be a very serious medical emergency.

But let's hope that never happens :)

It's ibrufen, not APAP.

Say that they did change the mixture, would taking a full pack of 24 without spliting them do much damage?:\

No, I'm not going to do it, I'm just checking before some arse flames me! I'd just go back to the shitty CWE! :\

From what I've read the LD50 of ibrufen is around 600mg/kg for an oral dose.

Say you weigh 60kg, that's 36,000mg ibuprofen, or 180 tabs of N+. A fair few then.

Someone correct me if Im wrong.

Yup, I was thinking in paracetamol since that is the second ingredient in the codeine pills I usually take. Sorry, Ibuprofen is somewhat safer, but better safe than suffering from jaundice I say :)

Actually, in the past I have always ordered them from NZ, and while they usually popped right in half like everyone sez they do, there was one particular lot # that I found, as well as the folks in alt.drugs.hard to not seperate very easily, and when you did get them apart, they were very uneven, and the two parts seemed to want to stick together more than usual. This was just one lot #, and I havn't seen it since. I wonder if it was just some sort of anomoly...(sp?)

News summary

Large Nurofen Plus discontinued

The 48- and 72-tablet packs of Nurofen Plus are being discontinued (p681). Nurofen Plus film-coated tablets are two-layer tablets with one a layer containing ibuprofen and another containing codeine phosphate.

Crookes says that a small number of consumers may be taking Nurofen Plus in larger quantities, or for longer periods of time, than recommended.

Here's proof from the horse's mouth for those who questioned the truth of N+ story, that being said I've yet to encounter a recent pack that splits:(

The pack of 24 I did last night aren't as well pressed as some of the first few packs I had 3 months ago, but if done gently enough they did split into the convex and concave halfs. It takes a bit longer to do, but lightly scoring up and down the sides, applying very little pressure, will help them split into the 2 parts a little more easily.

I've found that!

At the moment I'd say there's not much to worry about.
Pharm' companies probably don't give a fuck if people are abusing their products, all they really care about is £$£$£$£, the only way the recipe will really change is if some govt' complains about it! :\

Not sure that pharm companies don't care about the misuse of their products, check my post above.

It might be interesting to track the changes in the composition of these things here, I haven't come across a pack that splits cleanly for a good few weeks, in fact despite what people are saying I no longer expect to encounter packs that split easily.
