I have a slightly high tolerence to opiates, I take Hydrocodone daily and the occasional OP 80. I know that nalbuphine is an mu receptor antagonist, so I guess I have two questions. How long should i abstain from using hydros and oxys before taking nubain as to avoid any withdrawl effects? What is a good starting IV dose I have aquired some 20mg/ml amps.

I've never read about nalbuphine before. How it is notably more effective in females than males is pretty cool. Anyways a good rule for bupe is to wait until you are well within withdrawal before taking it to avoid precipitated withdrawal and I think this would be the same situation.

Latasch, Probst and Dudziak considered, in patients
who had received 7 p,g" kg -I fentanyl for induction of
anaesthesia and a further 200 p,g every 15 min, that the
narcosis would be reversed with 20 mg nalbuphine. 2
In that dose nalbuphine displaces fentanyl from mu
opioid receptors to facilitate breathing and a concomitant
lessening of mu antinociception. Kappa receptor moder-
ated analgesia may be obtained with larger doses of
nalbuphine (e.g., multiples of the 20 mg dose). Since
nalbuphine is a potent anaesthetic, 3 smaller doses, if
sufficient, should be acceptable in the recovery room.

The kappa makes me think it might not be that much fun unless you are actually taking it for paint relief.

edit: here's a thread on it from a couple years back. Nalbuphine/Nubain IM/IV question?

FYI nalbuphine is notorious for actually causing pain in males. the mechanism is not completely understood but be cautious. and in terms of waiting - the longer the better.... like with buprenorphine, introducing a partial agonist too soon can cause precip. w/d syndrome (AKA hell on earth) so be careful and patient

I used to take the nubain amps (SC usage) years ago. Not a very great feeling (mild by my current H standards) but it was the first hard code pain reliever I ever used recreationally. I found the effects wore off very quickly as well as quickly developing a tolerance. I tried upping the dose many times to about five or six vials in one go to try and improve the high - pretty much to no avail.
