NSW - Bluelight in the snow Mark 2. *REVIEW*

we'll sort out the lifts when we have definite times, dates, and so forth... last time we had less cars than were required, hopefully we'll be a little more organised this time around. ;)

ok i know thye approxmate tally for accomodation is around $80 but how much should i put away for "other" stuff? i have no idea hey, i never go on 5 day trips (and never been to the snow) unless it's doofing and then i just bring all my ever growing camping gear :p

and how cold does it actually get? do i need speacial snow clothes or can i rug up?

sorry if these are stupid questions :\

how much should i put away for "other" stuff? i have no idea hey, i never go on 5 day trips (and never been to the snow)

food: $50
"supplies": $80
skis hire $120
alcohol: $30
getting cabin fever after spending 5 straight days with me: priceless

nd how cold does it actually get? do i need speacial snow clothes or can i rug up?

i spent the best part of last year in t-shirts when at the cabin... its not all that cold till u go running in the snow, then fall down, then get back up, then fall down, then get back up, then fall down..

stoopid snow..... :p

hehehe i cant wait! i'm so excited!! i want to make snowmen and snow angels and have snow ball fights and and and oooooo i feel like i'm five years old (which differs from nay other day how i don't know :p ) i dont even care if i don't go skiing...i will probably dislocate my knee if i did but i would love to have a go at snowbaording and i want to go on the tobogans

yay!! how exciting! =D

I'll be at Perisher 2nd week in August. With the family, staying at our lodge opposite Mt Perisher. So if anyones there when I'm there I would love to catch up and have a drink with you!

doofqueen: basically what happened last trip was we all went shopping when we got there. everyone bout their own foods and drinks and some munchies to share. ski hire etc etc was taken care of by the people who were skiing. in reguards to supplies and all..that is the own persons responsiblity and such.

i had a blast last time on a limited budget. quite a few of us were limited due to a ride pulling out on us and having to find other means of transport there at the last minute.

of course prices are goin to be different from last years cause of longer stay etc etc and it depends on if the person wants to hire skii stuff. everything adds up. but we kept it to a minimal as much as we could last time.

basically the things u need cash for are these:

$ lodging-ur share
$ petrol for who ever drives you there and back
$ petrol for whoevers car u buzz round in while there
$ for food and general survival
$ for booze and any other stuff
$ for if u need to hire skii items

thats pretty much all i can think of.

last year we had fun. i got around in tracky pants and a jumper when at the cabin and other places while there. when we went to the snow we basically just wore jens, coat, beanie etc. not everyone skiied so whatever warm weather gear u feel to bring. those details can be sorted out later once interest and dates have been decided.

cosmic mist did a great job of organising the lodge last year and i arranged transport so it should organise itself pretty smoothly this time if things go well.

i also wana add: last years snow trip was awesome...the $80 for whatever 'supplies' you mean isnt really anything to go by. one of the reasons why we all enojyed ourselves last year and we all said this before we left and also when talking afterwards was the reason it was such a success was cause everyone was socail and not to trashed to talk or socailise. there was no cattyness or clickyness..im not saying that all other events are clikcy...but it was a good relaxing weekend away. :)

I promise ytou now that if we go for 5 days, then it won't be ~$80, it will be $150+...

It makes sense that the price will be that much more... my guestimations were not binding in any way. I realise it's doublt the price, but if you really want to come, save now $5 a week or something, and you may be able to come on those surplusses you have saved. :)

Ya im with starfalls on the "not to trashed to talk or socialise." Im going to be coming to go snowboarding so im not going to be partaking in much trashyness, but ill still be social! :)
I also think everyone needs to be prepared, if u actually want to ski/board a whole week, it could cost this:

1 Day Consecutive Mountain Pass, $83
2 Day Consecutive Mountain Pass, $166
3 Day Consecutive Mountain Pass, $237
5 Day Consecutive Mountain Pass, $358.
(That is mountain pass only) You can also get Mountain pass/lesson packages if you want lessons. (check www.perisherblue.com.au if you want all those prices.

And you know one thing i did a few years back... i baught a "beginners snowboard/lesson" pass from the tube (train to get there)... and it was CHEAPER than a normal day pass, and it STILL had access to all the lifts. hehe... *sneaky* But it was cheaper! I skipped the lesson and yeh, it rocked.

Id post about ski hire too but its all on the perisher website...Hiring stuff im pretty sure though is cheaper from Jindabyne, also saves the time getting it when you get to the ski fields. :)

Taliana, good for you! Have you snowboarded before?

Get a "first timer" lift and lesson pass. If you say you are new to skiing/boarding, you get FREE lessons. You should take these lessons as they teach you the basics and basic theory behind snowboarding. Everyone should have lessons when learning. It makes the learning curve a lot quicker and easier and you will be ripping in no time.

Middle Finger- yes i have (LOVE BOARDING)... both In Canada (lake louise... mt washington on vancouver island) and Australia... ;) Im not that good, but im better than your average girl who doesnt go to the snow very often..
Havent been since 2001 or 02? (with sarsen from here!) so i can imagine ill be a bit crap the first half hour till i pick it up again... hehe

And yeah thats the pass i got... the first timer one. They don't know any different when they sell it to you, so its the best way to get it cheaply if you are on a low budget. Dont know how u would get away with it day after day though... hehe...

I'm totally addicted to snowboarding. I'm leaving for Canada tomorrow morning. I'm going to Big White for a few weeks. =D Anyway, it's always good to hear from other people who love snowboarding too. ;)

I always tell my friend to get the First Timer pass, even though they aren't first timers. No one seems to care and you get free lessons. Why not?

l;ast time we found that about 1/2 the ppl went skiing, and the rest of us were povo bums who "frolicked" (or in Musby's case, fell over a lot) in the snow... :)

It was really fun last year... hopefully it'll work again this year... still waiting for the email back though :\

Not sure if I'll be able to afford the actual skiing/boarding bit, but I'll be coming along regardless :) If I can afford the skiing/boarding then its even better :)

CB :)

Awesome Middle Finger, I am *Insanely* jealous. Thanks...

hehehe...

Ill probably board 4 out of the 5 days, day to play (or sleep) heehe... And without a computer, we will all *gasp* have to be social. ;) hahaha... Bring on the alcohol! I dont mind a bit of beer or wine...or vodka... *grins* Just no drugs.

yeah i don't think i will be able to afford to ski or snowboard (even though i would love to give it a go because it seems like mad fun) i'll just be happy throwing snowballs at all of you and making you make snowmen with me =D

:) that made me chuckle lol.

doofqueen: i didnt skii or snow board either. for those that didnt we entertained ourselves by still going to the snow and frolicking around and we also did other stuff. we went to a maze on the way back and had races to see who could finish it first without going under any of the fences or cheating ;) we also went out for coffee to the place where the maze was. it was a good relaxing social weekend.

who needs a lift pass?
get fit running up stairs then walk the slopes with those tennis racquets strapped to your feet
