NPS Act V1. Blankets? Just Say No!

Grow your own benzos, eh? No so far fetched you know. There's quite a pharmocopea of "medicinal" plants that grow everywhere in this country. These "magical" plants and their uses have been driven underground by the war on drugs & the inquisition before it but if the Psychoactive Substances Act comes into force, some people are talking about distributing this sort of information to help counteract the ban. I'm not suggesting there might be a benzo in there, but there might be.

Nice to see the Lords embroiled in an actual drugs scandal. These are the people we're counting on to slow the ban!

Incidentally, if it were't for the Lords & Commons poking their noses into our lives telling us what we can & cannot do with our money, bodies & time, I would have absolutely no interest in what Lord Sewel here, does with his! I would have no interest in posting this if it weren't for the fact that the Lords have come up in this thread & the drugs angle makes it very pertinent.

all the more galling that hes buying his coke and hookers with taxpayers money, that dolphin square place sounds shady as fuck.

more than 400 age 18 - 35 dead a year from drink, more than 50k a year of the same ages hospitalised.

But its the headline news of my local papers website, that a kid died in a different region from laughing gas, despite stating and ignoring the fact he was also drunk at the time.

What I hate about this is how it show how sown up the propaganda machine in this country has become.

Rest of the world starts to wake up and we become a fucking embarrassment.

nitrous oxide isn't a legal high, it's a medical anaesthetic and commonly used as a propellant for whipped cream.

Alcohol on the other hand, IS a legal high whos consumption is actively promoted throughout the country and in the media.

Anyone heard anything about whether kratom will be included in the act? I'm pretty sure it will, but some people with access to wealth and solicitors seem confident that it wont be. :?

Maybe i shouldnt have made this post, in the hope that the powers that be would simply forget about Kratom. 8( What about ornamental poppy pods too, are they gonna make those illegal too?

Police raids on pensioners poppy gardens to follow next summer? I can already see that making at least the local news, and the daily Heil. :sus:

One thing is certain, these items are not "new" psychoactive substances. :!

I didn't even think about the old-school legal highs. Are they going to include Salvia, Amanita mushrooms, or seeds containing LSAs? I can't see it being possible, given how popular morning glory plants are in gardens.

Think the blanket laws counts anything that changes your state of counsiousness whatsoever, at least that's the way I understood it... so I guess it would include those too.

I can't see them being able to properly legislate for that. I must have a wee look at the Irish bill and see how they dealt with them.

My guess is that it will just allow the authorities to bypass older regulations and cuff anyone with an nondescript "substance" regardless of their claims that it's legal.. a bit like the PATRIOT act in a way, encroaching on people's rights and freedoms etc.

What is the state in France and the rest of mainland Europe about this?

I know Portugal and the Netherlands are a bit different. I was once "shipped" something from the Netherlands but the police seized it internally and didn't report it as they didn't want their country to be known just for drugs.

will this affect generic sildenafil too? can't go on a drugged/ drunk night out without one of those.

I think it'll be up to the police - if they an old couple with morning glory seeds they won't arrest them. If they find them in the possession of a kid they think will get high they'll try and prosecute.

Although apparantly there havn't been too many prosecutions - perhaps it will just be the police confiscating everything.

Right, I got an update from the Kratom vendour I use, and he said the ban isn't likely to come into effect before April.

Probably not, as those are classed more as prescription items rather than legal highs. Internet pharmacies are completely seperate from legal high vendors. I would imagine that the on line pharmacies would carry on much as before, only with a probable huge surge in demand after April next year. Also generic presciption items are so cheap to import from Asia, im not sure if there'll be any kind of 'beefing up' of customs checks on the mail, but ive only once had a package intercepted by customs, it was modafinil and pregabalin iirc, i was quite worried when it arrived wrapped in yellow and black hazard tape and stamped by Customs. They dint confiscate my items but just wanted me to pay import duty of £15 or something.

That is good to hear, though not quite as good as 'kratom wont be affected'. I guess it was inevitable.

It'll probably be readily available on the darkweb, but im sort of putting together a taper and quit plan now, well before the ban, incase i dont make it first time, and things like that. After it is banned i wont be bothering to get it off the dark web, i will probably stockpile a bit of personal use kratom before the ban, knowing that i cant allow myself to get addicted again, due to legal issues with the availabilty, Kratom is way too bulky to slip through the post unnoticed. This should make it easier to take it only occasionally..

It works much better that way anyway, ive got to the stage where im really only taking it to prevent going into WDs and not really getting any sort of benfit or highs from it. Ive started rotating strains, and found that to help slightly, taking a month off red vein borneo was a good move, it allowed my tolerance to drop, and i got absolutely blasted on the stuff after a month. Tried it again the next night, and nothing. Fucking tolerance to kratom is insane, its lucky that there are so many strains so that it is sometimes possible to enjoy the effects of one of the sedating strains of an evening.

All be available on the darknet - in fact seeing as real drugs are available on the darknet as well what's the fucking point in legal highs once they're banned?

The new law might inhibit some of the drive for new substances, certainly in the UK, but any new drug worth it's salt is going to hang around. There are markets established for substances such as Al-Lad & Mephedrone now that will endure beyond their individual spells as legal drugs. Many substances will likely go the way of the dodo & some of them we'll probably be quite pleased to see the back of... MDPV for instance...

The EU plans to follow the UK & ban MXE soon, if it hasn't already done so. What are the chances of an EU-wide Psychoactive Substances Act..?
