Megathread North American Railroad Videos (Trainspotting 101)

@kiely

I dunno, I just am fascinated by trains and have been ever since I was able to walk, maybe sooner.

By the way you're welcome. Thank you for your comments and if anyone has requests for someplace or railroad and can't find it, I'll try my best to locate it.

Oh Yes. I did hear the Snow Trains (ride) are supposed to be spectacular.

My second cousin and her husband just moved to central Michigan and they got a place near a big train track and they love it.

It inspired my cousin and her brother (both my cousins) to come out and visit last Spring.

They took the train and ended up in Winslow AZ. and then rented a car too.

They love the train tracks and living near the trains. <3<3<3<3<3<3❤️‍🔥

Her husband got all inspired and was taking photos or putting pennies on the tracks or something.

I would be out there too though. 🚃🚋🚃🚃🚃🔥
@kiely

Did you know that my wife I and spent (the first three days of ) our honeymoon on the San Fransisco Zephyr (westbound) ? It's a funny story I'll tell more of some time maybe.

Here a drone's eye view of the East Chicago/ Gary Indiana Steel mills operations.

I remember when this entire area was filled with bustling industrial activity. Of course the air would literally make your eyes water with pollution. :cry:

This video shows switchers moving coke, iron ore and even molten steel around the vast industrial district.

An interesting fact about this video is that some of the locomotives are run by remote control.

Today we're looking at some short line copper and nickel ore trains in U P Michigan on the LS&I RR. This railroad has a lot of GE engines on it's roster, including the two last operating U30-B's in the US.
As a bonus we also see some ore ships in operation as the loads find their way down to the mills in Chicago and Gary.
