Advice Non-binary sociologist from UC Riverside calls for the abolition of terms "gay" and "lesbian".

To be honest, I don't need the term gay to prop up my identity. I'd be perfectly okay just leaving out who I have sex with when attempting to define who I am. I just thought it was interesting how a biological man who identifies as non binary somehow gets a pass from these institutions for espousing rhetoric about us that if targeted instead towards trans people would never be tolerated. We both know if he had suggested that about trans people he would have been ripped a new asshole.

It's unclear to me if the author includes getting rid of the designation "trans" as part of the 'no labels' thing. I feel like it should if there's going to be consistency...but I don't know... it is a bit "in the weeds" by the end. Get rid of established labels labels for a nebulous 'exploring without shame' feels a bit like an idea that comes after a run of heavy cannabis use.

This is the ONE part that kind of makes sense to me as I could see someone who is non-binary viewing specific identity labels as unnecessary, unhelpful, or inaccurate.


Also, the author's pronouns are they them, not he, fwiw.
 
On a similar note, the Australian government has forced "all gender" bathrooms (despite 80% of people voting against it).

 
Why was this moved to SLR ? It has literally nothing to do with sex , love, or relationships. It's a purely political discussion.

So if I don't respect someone's pronouns who is a dick I'm lacking basic human decency.
But if I say I don't want to be called queer I get berated with insults?

I am a homosexual male. I do not wish to be described as queer or grouped with said individuals.
