no euros thread yet? here we go here we go here we go ...

Typical, I was just slagging off Andy Carrol off before the game started and then he goes and scores with a great header.
C'mon England

Beat headed goal of the tournament so far, think we've been well on top this half, decent display so far

Yeah it is and we still haven't had Rooney be able to play yet.Hope Rooney is on good form once he starts playing.

Very enjoyable, game of the tournament so far. Classy finish from Welbeck. Will be interesting to see what team Hodgson plays v Ukraine. Shouldn't have too many problems against them whoever he chooses. I'd drop Ashley Young, he's been brutal in both games.

Excellent game, one of if not the game of the tournament, all the England goals were excellent, can't fault it. Think we'll get turned over by some real opposition like Spain or Germany though

You'd think so but, with Walcott and Wellbeck shining and the team starting to gel, Eng-er-land might surprise yet if Rooney is one top of his game. Hodgson's a great manager - nobody can handle the poisoned chalice that Liverpool have become - and he'll make it work if anyone can. Wonder if he'll keep faith with Ashley Young and give him another chance in the last group game. Hope it's as entertaining as that one.

That's the thing with international football, the way UEFA/FIFA advertise them leads people to think it will be a super massive clash of titans, while really only a few games will match the quality of ties between the top-5 teams in every major European League.

Still awesome don't get me wrong, but I think the players should take it more easy, I mean unless you're playing Spain or Germany, the average team, especially in the group stages is in the international equivalent of West Brom, perhaps only slightly better.

Carroll and Walcott both looked class last night, we all know their true quality and how (in)effective they are against Prem-defenses.

Same thing at the last World Cup, both Suarez and Forlan looked world-class as they were scoring and creating chances like crazy, teams were fooled by their international performances and put them in their team on fat wages. Forlan and Suarez have not scored more than 20 goals between the two of them this season.

I think the domestic leagues tell a lot more about a player than tournaments, any player can lift his game for one match and shine, the true value is consistency, being able to repeat the same level of performance regularly and against top opposition.

Then obviously sometimes the opposite happens and you have players who shine for their clubs completely choking internationally.
