wierdness on medical-grade nitrous - 1st time
This occured several years ago at a friend's apartment when another friend of ours drove up with something in the back of his car. He immediately came up and asked for help bringing it in, but he wouldn't say what it was. When we got down to his car i could see is that it was big and wrapped in quilts, blankets, coats, anything to hide its true shape and size. Three of my friends had a very hard time getting it upstairs and i think to an observer from the street it may have looked like they were trying to get a dead body upstairs or something.
When they got it upstairs, it was unwrapped to reveal a 5 foot tank of nitrous.. the kind you would see in a dentist's office. I had no idea how they obtained this nor did i want to know.
Up until that point i had never had nitrous before and didn't really know what to expect. A friend filled up a balloon, inhaled the contents, and immediately fell back onto the bed in a fit of laughter and drooly dazed-outness. When she came to about 45 seconds or so later, she filled a medium sized balloon and handed it to me. It just felt like somebody had put a grid over my field of vision and everybody had their vocal chords replaced with one of those stephen hawking style voice generators. no big deal.
As the night went on, we all did many, many, many balloons full. WAAAAAY more than i have ever done since. This is where it got wierd. After about the 10th or so balloon, each time i inhaled a balloon, i would lose conciousness and go to this 'dream world' where i was in a wagon train in the old west. I would stay in this alternate world for a few minutes (which, while i was there, was totally real and convincing in every way and seemed much longer than a few minutes), then it would feel like i was 'yanked' back to 'conventional' reality. It would take a couple of minutes before i realized that THIS was where i was supposed to be, that i was NOT really in a wagon train in the Old West.
Each time i did another balloon i would go back to the wagon train and the story would continue right where it left off. Eventually we were attacked by indians, had to circle the wagons, and ultimately fight them off and continue on our way. This 'dream' unfolded through the use of probaly 20-30 balloons over the course probably 1.5 - 2 hours.
Also, during the times that i was 'reajusting' to the real world after waking up from the dream, i was able to see people walking around the house.. say through a doorway or something.. and then immediately see the same scene in 'reverse', like somebody had hit the rewind button on my visual field. This happened about 2 or 3 times.
The next day i was totally brain dead. I felt really "cracked-out" for lack of a better term. I just felt stupid and sluggish.
Has anybody else had an experience this profound on JUST nitrous before? i have heard of similar experiences on other substances but never nitrous.
