NEWS: Daily Telegraph - 14/12/09 'Cocaine drug lords hit Australia'

Same thing happens with legitimate business as well.

The suppliers have to go out of their way for Australia so prices rice according to how much the suppliers deem this annoyance is worth. As filenet said, there is a lot of other factors that come into play, but this is the big one.
 
Actually I would've said the price is driven by the average salary for a country. Generally drugs are much cheaper in poorer countries, but for us well paid Aussies it's a bit more. Remember that dealing is basically a job - it's gotta be worthwhile cash wise to do it.

Spot on mate. Altho they would be making the same amount of profit if they were selling more but for less.

still, paying exorbitant prices for coke is like paying quadruple figures for a gram of shard.

really fucking stupid.
be better off donating the money to charity or doing something noble... y'know...

The wages are similar here to US, UK and most western European countries yet the price of the drug is alot cheaper than here. Living in some of those countries including Eastern Europe from experience i know that people rather buy bulk cheaper thus they are gaining more profit that way by selling it less. That prob explains why every 3rd person is a dealer and why its so widely available lol

The single prices are not too far from the bulk prices which makes it affordable for ur average Joe drug drug user. I always compare drug prices as to what could u have bought for that amount. When u think of it ull realize we are getting pretty ripped off here.

hyroller: Ur right, shards is like 2-3 times more than full priced coke in Sydney which is a joke IMO.

Shards are costing you 2-3 times more than coke? Wow, here in Melb (in my circle anyway) it's about two thirds of the cost of coke for good quality stuff.

anyway... the pricing isn't the point of the thread... I will never understand the Aussie fascination with coke. maybe we just like foreign things. weed we can grow here, how blase :p
 
Because the people the use it often are fucking morons who like to be seen as part of the "in" crowd and flaunt how they use coke and not the "dirty" drugs.

Not saying coke is shit but for the price we pay it is. We are paying for the brand, not the product. Its like designer cloathing or even surf clothing. Same stuff as at target or K-mart but that small logo makes it oh so much more expensive and makes you look a damn site more cooler :P.

I bought a heap of shorts from K-mart for work because they are cotton (and dont melt to your skin with fire), they are cheap ($20) and they look better then the work pants (boring blue).

Iv been givin alot of compliments from girls "oh them pants are nice" "...my work pants?" and "how did you get into my bedroom and why are you wearing my bra?!!" umm

Sorry im off topic here but my point is with coke your paying for the hyped up brand. Its not that good but it makes you look cool and elite.

At least with increased demand prices can only come down and really...I can't see how quality could get any lower. Cut it anymore and its pure...PURE bakeing soda.

I hate old drivers who drive slowly and never indicate.

Ecstasy (MDMA), meth, heroin are all much more expensive in Australia compared to most other countries too, so why wouldn't drug cartels be doing everything they can to import these drugs aswell? The fact is they are, so why the focus on cocaine? I don't get it. Whatever sells the papers I guess.

cocaine may have always been around but its popularity specially in sydney and melbourne is at unprecidented levels. it seems everyone here in sydney is on the white stuff. where i am it is easy to get cos every dealer seems to be selling it these days too
 
I've found everyone is turning to coke because there is no pills around well any good ones.
The price u pay for 10 to 20 pills is a gram of good quality coke and these days u are more likely to wind up with dud to pip pills than any MDxx and u will get a good night or 2 on a good quaility g of coke I think that has something to do with the market boom if there is even one.
Just people turning from one drug to another I think personaly
 
That's a good point. I think when the next PDI come's out we might see a leveling out or decrease in popularity while cocaine will be going up. The news reports will be more along the line of "ecstasy use down, cops praise good work"

Im not sure myself but does anyone know if there are any figures if the "heroin drought" and the "ice epidemic" go hand in hand?. I know iv seen anecdotal evidence but it might be intresting to see if the "Global MDMA crisis" and the "coke wave" follow a simmiler pattern. People take what ever is around. If something becomes scarce people just move onto what ever else will give them a good time.

Your average drug user evolves rapidly to a change in environment and is able to sustain on a poly array of substances. Focusing on just one substance with law enforcement just causes the drug user to adapt to a new food source. And as more substances start flooding the market (RC's) its truely mind boggleing to see how police can enforce the law just to the degree they are now (not very well). They think it's hard now, well your drug user is about to evolve into a superbug.
 
Id never turn to coke tho. Way too overpriced and would never replace any good club drug. Everynow and again is ok tho like at NYE;)

Did you do geography? We are the largest island in the world, and one of the most isolated. Combine that with extremely tight customs and you're going to have inflated prices due to the difficulty of getting stuff in.

There are tons and tons of speed and MDMA labs in AU. Ill never understand it.

If there were so many labs then where is the flood of good pills? Any of the good pure MDMA powder that was around is coming from Canada, the crystal from a while back was EU but i'd LOVE to see your evidence showing that Aus is overrun with MDMA labs.

Maybe the issue here is difference in slang - to me 'shards' is any rock/crystal methamphetamine that can be smoked in a crack pipe without leaving a layer of black shit at the bottom.

I don't go out looking for 'pure uncut ice' because I doubt that uncut crystals are possible to find unless you're very close to the source, and I believe that the amount you would pay for 'pure uncut ice' wouldn't be worth it when you can get good quality, smokable rock/crystal methamphetamine for a lot less.

The US is a pretty big country with very tight customs and yet the columbian drug cartels (coke for example) manage to import it there and it costs not even quarter of what it does here. The profit here in AU is way bigger than any other country so i dont understand the whole concept of ur idea. The US have just as good Customs as we do here in AU.

There are a few labs but most arnt mass productive. Atleast i contribute to the forum with useful information. Ur post count is low and you are getting a bad reputation.

Everybody knows Australia has highly inflated drug prices ALL ROUND, not just cocaine!
