Newcomers - Cold Water Extraction: Method Do's & Don'ts

snolly - If they are Paramol then it's the same case as with Nurofen+. If the CWE is done right, step by step, then it's purely the coating that's getting through :)
You'd prolly need a micro-filter to get that clear 1st time round.
It gets clearer when you repeat the CWE because the coating is (in a crude n very unscientific term) "taking on water) so that the particles begin to swell a bit ;)
 
Ah cheers Monsta and Evey, forgot it's got that weird coating on it. It worked well enough anyway, had most of it to myself and left a bit in the glass for the missus and she was complaining it wasn't working til she got up and couldn't work her legs, bless.

I do wish I could swap my painkiller from Codeine to DHC, not to get high (for some reason I don't get any recreational value from it at all) but to get longer lasting pain relief.
Codeine only has a half-life of ~4hrs and it attatches to mu-receptors that... put bluntly disable the ability to piss n shit lol 8(
Also, because of it attatching to physical receptors, it's really fuckin painful when it comes to WDs for such a mild painkiller :|
 
First time poster here, and also never done a CWE before.

I recently arrived in the UK from the States. Over there, I never went a day without putting at least 1 (normally 2) 30mg Oxycodone up my nose. Needless to say, its day 3 over here and my WD are buggering me. I just went into town and got a box of Paramol (I told the pharmacist I was prescribed Hydrocodone back in the US) and she picked it out for me. I was taking a taxi, so I didn't whip the box out and read it until I got home. 500mg of APAP!!!!!!! Wtf. I took a couple orally just to try to take the edge off the WDs. Feel slightly better, but it a far shot from even a 10/325 Hydro back home. I've never even thought of CWE'ing anything, because I was so spoilt with the 30mg Oxys that I never have needed to.

To get to the point, I want to CWE these so I can function. I bought a 24 pack (22 left) and I wish I had picked up some coffee filters... but I didn't and I'm not booking another Taxi. So I need some help with how to do this correctly with the tools I have, because I need relief TODAY. After some vague research, I realise now Paramol Is probably the worst thing I could have got for CWE, and also not having the filters puts me at a serious handicap for my first time. BUT I still would like to try. So if anything can give me some tips on how to make the best of my situation.. what to use as my filter and also how many of the pills to use the first time?

Quickest method: Stick pills in glass (crush if you want but there will be a lot of pills since they are 8/500), cover pills in water and let dissolve in fridge. Once you have milky solution filter into another glass (you don't need coffee filters, I've used a pair of boxers before, clean ones obviously, just something that is substantial enough to not let much paracetemol through, but filters liquid well). Once filtered inspect the solution, if it still looks too milky filter again. Expect some paracetemol in the solution when using such a crude technique, however the amount filtered through should be minimal. Discard gunk left behind in whatever filter you have used and drink the solution.

There are probably better, perhaps safer and more advanced techniques if you do a search on BL, but I guess you're climbing the walls and want this ASAP.

Thanks for the welcome all! Thanks for the info Mushet. Forgive me for my stupid questions, but I just want to make sure I do it right because I have no way back into town today. I will go with the boxer technique, should I use briefs or the regular boxers? (lol) and do I need to fold them to make the filter thicker? And I have read on this thread that the end product for Paramol is generally milky due to the coating on the pills, so should I just filter twice to be safe? Cause I'm assuming no matter what I do, its going to be milky, which leaves a huge grey area regarding how much APAP I'm taking in. Or is the better indicator the gunk in the filter? Like I said, its my first time doing this so I have no idea what to expect regarding amounts.
 
With paramol you're best rinsing them under the tap or briefly* shaking in water and discarding the water as they have a soluble coating which makes your extraction cloudy no matter what. You will lose a small amount of DHC but can achieve crystal clear extractions = visibly almost no paracetamol / APAP = peace of mind / no fucked liver.

* i put pills in a small pot, uncrushed, fill with water, shake once or twice and tip away water. then crush pills and add to a small vol of water.
 
and with filtration use *at least* doubled boxers. the slower the filtration the better, really. kitchen paper doubled or tripled up can be useful
 
Thank you. Is it a waste to do say 10 first, then another 12? So I can have one practice go? Or do I just need to go all in? And would you personally go with the boxers or the kitchen towel? Its some pretty cheap stuff from Tesco.
 
no problem . it'd be fine to do in batches. i'd have to see the materials to decide which filter to use. you want it to come through slowly as possible, oh and wet it with water beforehand also.
 
@Desperateimmigrant - No bother, as Tangee said you can use kitchen towel, but I'm always concerned that it will rip somehow, plus wetting the filter is also a good tip.

Regarding wasting 10 first to have a go and leaving you with 12, I dunno - how much codeine is in Paramol? I'm assuming 8mg per pill? That would only give you 96mg of codeine if you fuck up the first 10. I'd go all in man, I can't see how you will fuck it up if you follow the instructions. Also, pick the boxers that look like they have been woven well, not the ones knitted by your granny last Christmas, haha.

Edit: Ahhhhh, sorry, Paramol contains DHC, which is stronger obviously.
