I've been in the vicious cycle ever since. Keep promising myself I'll quit but have very little follow through.

i can empathize with this cycle. its not the easiest thing to accomplish regarding drugs/substances.
take a hellofalot of self control and determination; distractions help as well as sometimes therapy helps us identify root issues so that maybe they can be "worked" on.
i been taking low dose (1mg twice a day) benzo for years now im tapering off and am at .75mg after 3 weeks or so. have a doc that is willing to help as long as i have health coverage but have done it on my own before with several substances and am confident i can do it again.
try to be kind to yourself and dont beat on yourself there are plenty others that are more than happy to beat on ya.
