new & dont know where to post this...needle broke off in arm need feedback ASAP

okay so the other night i, like a dumb ass, had re-used a needle and let someone that had just done their shot of shards try and hit me. from so so many bad misses and a lot of anxiety i start freaking out if it doesn't seem like they're doing it properly and he definitely wasn't...i kept saying just take it out and he got angry and was saying no, no, just wait a sec i'll f'n get it! and when he pulled it out I swear on everything I saw a bigger hole than usual and part of the needle starting to suck in to my bicep as I could feel it literally moving up and through 5 maybe 10 minutes later, if that.. he missed just a tiny bit as well so I had a raised bump but but oddly it went 3/4 away after about 10 minutes and it was rather hard and it just changed really drastically. everybody I talk to about this just responds with how ate up this all sounds but seeing my friends scars on their arms from where they had to cut their shit out, and still having little tiny pieces of past points stuck right under-neath my skin (those will eventually reject though not worried about em), tells me that this is very very very possible...I don't know what to do. I also feel really sick, like my body is just shutting the fuck down. my mom's been sick so I could have gotten it from her but this incident was just the day before yesterday and last night is when my lymph glands started swelling, pretty sure I have a fever too and my face is BRIGHT red. i'm getting random ass sharp pains all over my body too...I promise I'm no hypochondriac I'm just trying to be the least ignorant in my situation even though it was ignorant of me to be using a dirty one and go down like that...ahh fuck. my friend i just found out died too and i'm barred an i found out about 20 minutse before writing this so i apologize if this is a bit confusing to read but seriously any feedback would be wonderful i'm pretty sure i'll end up goin to the hospital here in a little bit or if i end up being ok within that time frame i might wait till 2-3am when nobody's usually there. I know reactions are probably gonna be GO TO THE HOSPITAL RIGHT NOW!! but any other information as to what might be going on to soothe me till I do arrive there would be great, I hate to be one of those that thinks it's gonna move its way through my muscles and/or pierce an artery or major vein and travel around and fuck shit up...but i'm a twacker and its almost inevetible that i'd think that...

Im sorry to hear what happened - definitely go to the hospital right now!! You really don't want some broken off needle in your arm, especially a dirty one that could be full of bacteria, and if you are feeling unwell too you could be developing septicaemia (a blood infection which can be potentially extremely dangerous) so please, get some medical help ASAP! I don't mean to panic you, but you really do need to go to hospital now and not wait any longer I think.

I'll move this over to Other Drugs as they usually deal with this sort of issue, but I don't know if there is much else any of us can say, and often it is best to just close these threads to make sure you get to hopsital quick rather than waiting for replies - we have no way of telling how serious this is or how unwell you are over the internet - but I will leave that up to the discretion of the OD moderators.

I'm so sorry to hear about your friend too - please, feel free to come back to TDS if you want to talk about that (once you have got yourself checked out by a doctor!!) - I have just started a grief/bereavement thread here or you can of course start your own thread if you want to talk to us about that.

right, i know how fucking scary shit can get when it all happens at once, and yes get a fucking move on to hospital as soon as you can however if you had a shard of metal in your circulatory system you would most certainly be dead, seriously if an air bubble will fuck you up as bad as it does the end of a needle will wreak havoc so chill on the front, really your first line of action while waiting to go to hospital should be bathing the area to prevent infection, do not apply pressure as you dont want to disturb the needle part, instead bathe it and if you must sweep your hand across your skin, do not dab the skin, also the pressure difference in water may force the needle back out if its still possible, its a tried and tested method of removing spinters, try to submerge the wound in water and hope that it works (allthough in honesty is not entirely likely) just get some alcohol wipes and sort the wound and then get to hospital right away , also get some tests for hep.c and shit, i know its not nice to say but better safe than sorry.

i am sorry to hear about your friend and genuinley hope for your saftey please take care of yourself and get to hospital, also send me a PM if you want to talk now or in the future good luck also you are most likley ill with your mums illness always remember that the simplest solution has the most chance of being the correct one look up occums razor

edit: i just read back and realised it sounds like i was saying you dont have a needle stuck in your arm, and just to clear up it wasnt, i was just saying that it isnt killing you, and your illness may also be an infection which is responded to quickly will clear up easily and less painfully so serisouly get to hospital and just be completel honest

thank you so so so much you two for responding and giving me that info, I have a feeling i'll like this forum a lot lol. I'm honestly only 18 too but I've been doing this 4 years too long way too hard so this kind of stuff just really scares me because I have a life to live and this isn't living...

i'd respond more in detail with what you guys replied with but i'm not in the state where i can do all that lol but I do appreciate the support given so far.

bon the part about rinsing the area and whatnot, that's kinda the problem - I saw and felt the point move up and in my bicep and then somehow I felt it in my armpit area a few hours later (not in the center but you know where the side of your breast is or that annoying lump that sticks out from your bra? ahaha), that's where I think I last found it but not positive it could be anywhere in the bicep/upper arm area for all I know...it just seemed odd how I could feel and barely bend my arm for a certain amount of time and then i'm fine..and then it happens again, a bit further from the last location? i'm burnt and found a couple spots where it could be but one or two areas i'm almost positive that it was there. god this sounds like I'm fucking going nuts lol but I swear I read somewhere that if it gets in the muscle it can move and re-locate itself, if anyone could correct me or inform me more on this that'd be great.

im afraid i cant give you advice on the relocation but just bathe the wound, its better than doing nothing and will provode some peace of mind.
do not forget your lymphatic system is a large part of your immune system and although it shouldn't swell if you are very unwell it may, so you could be looking at infection because the exact area you described is where the lymph nodes of the breast are (that goes for both genders).

also i dont mean to scare you but that is a symptom of cancer of the breast and lymphoma, i know thats not what you want to hear however if you are going to hospital you can book a mamogram etc. and have it checked out just to be on the safe side.

you are living a dangerous life so make sure you really sieze the moments when you can get your health checked.

Here's what you need to do...

1) Carefully and calmly go to the ER.

2) Explain to them what happened.

3) You will likely have xrays performed to find out where it is, and if it is lodged in an area that's threatening enough to your life that they'll have to do emergency surgery.

4) If not, they will refer you to someone else who will go over with you the ups and downs of taking out vs leaving it in. Yes, some people opt not to remove them if they aren't harmful, another Bluelighter wrote their experience about this a while ago.

5) After at least #1-3, let us know how it went for you.

It is critical you get to the ER.
