Never tried Hydrocodone yet - But

I am about to try it tomorrow, since I just got prescribed 98 Hycodan 5mg tablet. Hycodan in Canada contains NO Tylenol, or No other junk besides Hydrocodone.

My doctor wrote to take 14 a day for a week and then see him next week.

BTW this for my tapering plan. As before I was on a daily dispense of HydroMorphContin 18mgs (2x/day) (NASALLY) then
HydroMorphContin 12mgs (2x/day (NASALLY) Now
Hycodan 5mg (straight hydrocodone tablets) 14/day.

I can't do these Hycodan tablets on a daily dispense like I could the Hydromorph since my coverage does not cover the hydrocodone tablets and I have to pay $118.58 CDN for 98 5mg Hycodan tablets. I asked my doctor to swtich to hydrocodone but its a good thing he forgot to write daily dispense. So my pharmacy is ordering these in for me tomorrow.

Anyways:

How is hydrocodone compared to oxycodone? I've had a 7 year oxy habit, so I know what oxycodone feels like.

I understand Hydrocodone is a bit weaker than oxycodone? Some people say otherwise. but What do you guys think? Would I need to pop all 14 at once?
 
10mg of Oxy is equal to 15mg of Hydro. Oxy gives most users energy and Hydro makes most sleepy. I am the opposite. I just sit on the couch with Oxy but I have to find something to do while on Hydro. When I used both Oxy and Hydro, I always binged on the Hydro first. I wouldn't get anything from the Hydro if I didn't.


Are you trying to get off all opiods?
 
hydrocodone is more sedating and less stimulating.
and yeah oxycodone is said to be more potent

Yes I am. This will be my 4th attempt I believe. This time I can't go back, I just can't stand living that life anymore of constantly putting my body through that cycle for 7 years and lately end up being in withdrawals a lot. :\

I wish Suboxone was an option. I wish there were more addiction clinics here, but we only have the 1 for the entire City. My tolerance is insane right now as well (I'm not dicksizing). Just saying that I don't like it anymore. It isn't 'fun' to be anymore because we don't have the doctors here where I am like some of you in Europe or the United States. :\
 
It was euphoric in the beginning but not so much now. Hydro, for me, has a ceiling where it will not get any "better". I never found out if Oxy had one.
I use my Hydros for serious back and leg issues but I can't help but take few too many sometimes. If I have a lot of yrd work to do, I will take a handful, enjoy the first hour and then work nonstop for 10hrs.
 
Kratom powder got me off of an Oxy habit. It would take 150mg to get feeling good. Kratom took away 99% of the WD's. Kratom had a very minor WD but it is nothing compared to opiods. I bought a bag of "0" size capsules and filled them with kratom. 15 of those in the morning and a few before bed made life tolerable again. I just worked the dosage down to 0 from there. I would always carry some with me for when the urge hit.

yes most people will tell you oxy is more euphoric. however i find them to feel exactly the same. they both make me feel warm and fuzzy and usually nod. i dont feel anymore stimulation from oxycodone than i do with hydrocodone which is little to none

Hydrocodone has always been euphoric but nothing like those first 2 weeks of pure bliss & blanket warmth. Oxycodone has only been euphoric once for me when I chewed up the old formulation OC's at about 10mgs. I dont do much Oxycodone & to tell you the truth, I rather do 10/325 Percs by Watson than Oxycodone IR or OP's.
 
If you've been using hydromorphone, hydrocodone isn't gonna do shit. Hydrocodone won't even stop my oxymorphone WD much less get me high. Wish I had better news. If you take enough you might be able to stave off WD... That's about it. Good luck!!

Before I had a tolerance hydrocodone was a good time!

How do you take your hydromorphone? I thought you snorted Opana from what ive read in several threads.

I was asking her specifically how she does it but since you answered, I got another question for you bro. Hydromorphone is Dilaudid if im not mistaken, right? If so, from what I read, its better to shoot dilaudid than snort it, correct? Of course something I would hopefully never do.

Yes, hydromorphone is Dilaudid and yes, Dilaudid is much, much better IV'd. In fact the rush is more powerful than heroin.

^^True fact.

I don't find hydrocodone to be terribly euphoric - it mostly just makes me really, really edgy and angry. I don't like it at all and it def doesn't compare to Hydromorphone.
 
If you have a big oxycodone habit, it's unlikely that you'll feel much from hydrocodone. One thing that you could do- wait until you feel really shitty to take the hydrocodone. You might get something out of it then- if only because of the relief factor. I don't have a huge tolerance but if I've been taking oxy for a few days, hydrocodone won't really do much for me.
 
I found the Oxycodone 10/325 to be a lot more powerful than hydrocodone 10/325. For me, it would take 2 or 2.5 of the hydro 10's to equal 1 oxycodone 10.

So your 14 a day at 5 mg per would be about 70mg of hydrocodone a day. There are some good charts out there and on here that can help you with conversions, but each person metabolizes slightly different and which drug does the job best is kinda subjective.

Hycodan Description


Hycodan contains hydrocodone (dihydrocodeinone) bitartrate, a semisynthetic centrally-acting opioid antitussive. Homatropine methylbromide is included in a subtherapeutic amount to discourage deliberate overdosage.

Each Hycodan tablet or teaspoonful (5 mL) contains:
Hydrocodone Bitartrate, USP 5 mg
Homatropine Methylbromide, USP 1.5 mg

Hycodan tablets also contain: calcium phosphate dibasic, colloidal silicon dioxide, lactose, magnesium stearate, starch and stearic acid.
