I agree, opiates are pretty human-friendly, body-friendly etc. It's what comes with it that's the problem; Supply, withdrawal, tolerance, money (if you don't have insurance). And than there is constipation, sleeplessness, opiate nightmares.
There is more. But overall i think they are relatively easy on the body and safe. They become dangerous when you take more than you should. And I'm not lecturing because i take more than i should but i am very careful and don't do 'Dangerous amounts' of any of my medications. And of course there is addiction and addition is it's own entity, it has it's own soul it seems like. Just like physical pain seems to be it's own entity, so does addiction it seems.
And if your like me and you have daily severe pain and an addiction on top of that, it stinks! But, i wouldn't give them up, not now at least. Do i ever plan on living opiate free intentionally, probably not. They've become a part of me. And I'm not saying that's a good thing. I've kinda accepted that I'm a lifer but i don't know how I'll feel in the future. Some miracle could happen and i give it all up. Likely, NO, plausible, YES
