Negative cognitive / behavioural changes after light / moderate ketamine use

It seems like every time I do even a small to moderate amount of ketamine, I have negative aftereffects for up to a week and a half. By moderate / light, I mean 250mg over the course of a couple hours, and by negative after effects, I mean brain fog, a lack of concentration, lack of motivation, light depression, irritability, mood swings, etc. This usually fades after 1 week or 2, then I'll be on top of the world, buy another bag of ketamine, then rinse and repeat. This seems to be even worse on larger doses, and since coming to this realisation, I've almost completely curbed my habit - but biting off that occasional recreational dose is incredibly difficult.

I've never heard of K giving these after effects, so I thought up a couple of causes. The first is that I simply buy k every time I get into a mania, and this is swiftly followed by a downer; although the downer doesn't seem to come when I don't buy the k. Alternatively, my water retention goes to shit when I do K (I've got a mad sensitive bladder / kidneys), and my eyes get incredibly dry, so it could be that ketamine is leading me to be dehydrated for these periods of time until my body heals itself.

But one thing I can't shake, is that when I did MXE, and I got more disassociated then I ever have in my life, that arc was reflected in the after effect as well. For 2 weeks, I was almost catatonic - completely and utterly fucked up, depressed, and foggy as shit.

So, I ask - has anyone had any temporary negative after effects, for the days after a small amount of k usage?

K has always been a bitch for me to find, but I've done my share of MXE mostly in 2-5day binges of a gram or two. The morning after it starts I tend to be a bit spacy, little depressed, but fine. I come home get into the bag, wake up go back to work and I'm fine. It seems it's only the first morning after that sucks for me. Never got that pleasant afterglow that folks speak of though it must be nice.
Lots of folks have atypical reactions to drugs. Join the club.
Your after effects sounds worse, your body and brain might just not like dissociatives as much as your mind does. Like my roomie who gets panic attacks if he drinks a caffeinated soda but still craves Mountain Dew. Sucks but you might be healthier if you quit.

Should also add that a similar thing seems to occur with Nitrous, but almost instantly. I'll take a hit, trip, and then for a couple hours after be completely socially despondent. Anyone else heard of this?

I've noticed similar symptoms after ketamine use; my cognitive abilities are dampened significantly. I have experienced this for several weeks some times. I don't recall anything similar with MXE, but I recall something similar happens with DXM even in doses below any recreational value.

I don't recall this happening with ketamine but PCP and all it's analouges leaves me feeling fucked up for a week or more after a single dosage.

Ketamine fucks with me more so than any drug ever.
I always say ketamine is the kind of drug that people do, who do not like themselves.
They will find something to like within that hole. and They will cling to it.

I personally rather enjoy myself and anything that makes it so i cannot communicate effectively from this form i hold now.
Bothers me greatly.
DMT is about the only drug that gets an elevation out of this. As i always reset back to the same format.

Ketamine makes you wobble away. Far away. At least thats what i have noticed.

Ketamine is an acute anti-depressant for most people, but a lot of the other issues you recount appear to be normal, I would say. Ketamine disrupts functionality of cognitive faculties in a way that tends not to be practical or social. I'd call irritability or mood swings potential hangover effects that are much less chronic than the other after-effects but I have them significantly with substances like 3-MeO-PCP and 3-MeO-PCE, ketamine is not too bad most of the time.

Either way you seem to be relatively sensitive to some of the negative effects from the sounds of it, and if you don't have a long history of K use or other complicated circumstances in your life, maybe including use or abuse or other substances .. then I would take this as a sign to take it easy more than other people and if you must use dissociatives consider trying other kinds to see if the same problems arise.

It's been many years since I've ingested ketamine, but I do most notably remember irritability after the fact, as well as a bit of a depressive state. I liked the experience a lot, but the aftermath wasn't worth it in the long run for me anyways.

Very astute for many users of dissos, myself anyway. Feeling like your witnessing the godhead while miles and ages from your problems and pains, and it wants you to be comfortable. What could be better for a self loathing fuck up. Still gotta go to work and pay the bills though so no good if it leaves you so much worse than it found you that you can't function.
