I think a lot of people use the natural vs. chemical to draw a line for themselves and give them an excuse not to cross it. I've heard a few people say, "Yeah, I enjoy drugs, but I stick to ones that occur in nature like weed and mushrooms." I've heard this from 5 different people, and I don't think any of those people would even go for other "naturally" occurring drugs like cocaine or opiates or even khat, even if they were given them in their natural form. These people are just comfortable with weed and mushrooms, and making the "natural" claim is easier to say than "I'm scared to try other things." And that's fine.
What gets me is when these same people try to lord it over others. Like they're somehow better and less of a "druggie" cause they only smoke weed every day and I do E about every other month. When they befriend you and find common ground in the drug scene, but then suddenly flip the switch and look down on you because your drug of choice is something synthetic. It's just more close-minded, uneducated, hypocritical bullshit and to see that in a scene that totes itself as accepting is irritating.
It kind of reminds me of all the stoners that lecture people who prefer to drink. Because alcohol is more detrimental to society than weed. Yes, that may be true, but I don't judge a person just because (insert substance here) is their DOC, I'll judge them based on how they treat myself and others. I don't personally think I'll ever try coke, but I've met some lovely coke heads that are genuinely good people.
