Natural herbs other than bella donna that cause mydriasis (pupil dilation)?

Mostly for curiosity reasons, but perhaps for some other artistic uses, does anyone know of any herbs that when taken orally reliably results in pupil dilation?

I searched and searched, found some info here and there but nothing conclusive about herbs that cause mydriasis. Bella donna pops up everywhere however I've also read about how toxic it can be. I've also read about the Hyoscyamus niger but it doesn't seem like it would be effective. I'm hoping there's something else out there that someone knows of that always makes pupils wider? Preferably something that can simply be made into a tea and doesn't have to be dropped into the eye.

I'm talking herbs and organics here. Not synthetics. I know MDMA and LSD will make my eyes saucers. I'm looking for a natural herb(s) that will have the same mydriatic effect.

Thank you!:)

Bump for interest in this aswell as it really makes people look beautiful when the pupils are wide, partly because it mimics the way the eyes look when in love

There were a few times I took low doses of LSD just to make my eyes huge. They make the eyes look better than MDMA imo, as they still look relaxed whilst having very wide, beautiful pupils :)

Me and my rolling/tripping friends all used to comment on how good-looking we were whilst rolling/tripping simply because of the pupils %)

What other plants did u find out about man?

Bump for interest.

What herbs did u find out about dude? Have you ever seen those Eye Brightening drops? I dont know exactly what they do...

As for what I know: obviously mushrooms will dilate pupils but that may be a little too intoxicating to use just for the sake of mydriasis. I also found that when I used to use kanna as a snuff my pupils would dilate. Yohimbe also has been known to dilate my pupils sometimes. Actually, I read that yohimbe drops are dropped into the eye for dilation as well, but I'd be careful with that...

Never heard of eye brightening drops.

Hopefully someone has a good answer!

I'd really rather not ingest a psychadelic though for the purposes of aesthetic enhancement as I would look to utilise such a benefit when embarking on a date or perhaps at work.

I mean I remember going on a few dates and taking Acid beforehand! I was giggly and my pupils were massive, but it's not really practical and awfully disrespectful of such a wonderful chemical.

It can indicate sexual interest which is why women in subservient countries cannot make eye contact.

This is also why babies are born with large pupils.

To the OP....the easiest route for pupil dilation without toxicity would be phenylephrine eye drops.

Yeah i remember looking into it and apparently we find it so attractive because when in a state of adoration/love/lust our pupils dilate, which in turn makes us look more attractive.

I always think people on MDMA look beautiful, provided they arent TOTALLY fucked with jaw swinging from side to side, you know. Just when there eyes are wider and fuller and they have flushed face slightly.

Phenelypherine eye drops? Wonder if thats the same ones I used a while ago, which definitely didnt dilate the pupil, just made my eyes look watery/brighter. I mgonna try and find them, cheers.

Can you account for their efficacy?

yes I use them clinically daily

Do they make your pupils as wide as MDMA or LSD? I'm yet to find anything else that makes pupils THAT wide, not even mushrooms.

I mean, there's pupil dilation:

I believe the second image is the result of dilating eye drops. I would love to be able to achieve this kind of dilation WITHOUT having to use eye drops. I want to be able to take something orally. As stated above, preferably not something that will result in heavy intoxication and/or wasting of a valuable chemical and obviously not toxic.

Anyone ever notice little kid's eyes to often be MDMA-like dilated? For some reason, I simply always notice other people's pupil size and many times I notice children's eyes are extremely dilated. If I saw eyes like that on an adult I'd be 100% convinced they're on something. Could it perhaps be related to the fact that everything is so new and magical to a child? *shrug*

Yes. Dilating drops will make your pupils huge without the systemic side effects as one might have from ingesting something.

Why do you want this effect?

I could be misunderstanding, but are you desiring this just due to the aesthetics? If so, how about getting colored contacts rather than ingesting unnecessary drugs?

You gave me an idea - make contacts for opioid users that don't change their eye color but are themselves colored with just a healthy pupil size.

"Want to get your nod on but pinpoint pupils always giving you away? Try our miosis-masking contacts today!"

It kind of annoys me how my daily use of Kratom means my eyes are always pinpricked and bloodshot. TBH...I have a nice colour of eyes (watery blue sorta) so the pinpricked aspect doesnt annoy me, but the bloodshot just looks horrible sometimes.

Erythroxylum coca comes to mind as does Catha edulis.

Stimulants are, in general, more addictive and dangerous than psychedelics, but unwanted stimulant intoxication is much more manageable than unwanted psychedelia. It should be noted that mydriasis IIRC can cause eye damage if you're exposed to too much bright light, as well as being relatively uncomfortable.

The "mildest" agents I can think of that would induce mydriasis are the selective norepinephrine releasing agents like phenylisobutylamine (aephetamine) and ethcathinone, or the peripherally-selective 5-ht2a agonists like AL-34662. The urinary incontinence drug Darifenacin is a selective M3 antagonist; M3 is the receptor directly responsible for pupillary contraction and so one would expect Darifenacin to produce mydriasis (and it is noted for having few side-effects).

The ophthalmological drug ibopamine is used to induce mydriasis in clinical settings and appears to have few psychological side-effects, and you may be able to talk to an eye doctor to use some for whatever purpose (presumably photography?).

My ex is a medical student, and this one phone conversation we had was about how that day she had this chemical dropped into one eye - and it made her pupil dilate for around 24 hours...she said the ensuing weird looks from people was seriously amusing.

Awesome informative response, thank you!! Both the herbs you mention would be fantastic, however both are illegal. I would definitely not mind a little stimulant push behind all this. I should have clarified in my original post: A stimulant that induces mydraisis would actually be preferred because a (non-toxic) stimulant can be helpful. As you said though, unsolicited psychedelia can be quite unproductive. :)

i would like to never have my pupils dilated because when i walk out of the opthomoligist's office, after and exam, the sun or even just daylight wreaks havoc with my vision for hours.

having glaucoma sucks as i have several visits yearly. I inquired of my MD if there was an available drop to shut them back down. she replied that there was but it is no longer available.

Good excuse to eat some opiates :p
