Hey y'all...I got some book recommendations if anyone here likes to read...
First off, everyone who likes Boardwalk Empire, you should read the book "Boardwalk Empire: The Birth, High Times, and Corruption of Atlantic City" by Nelson Johnson. And of course for fans of The Wire read "The Corner" by David Simon & Edward Burns. Great reads to supplement the shows.
Other books I've been reading lately:
"Random Family: Love, Drugs, Trouble and Coming of Age in the Bronx" by Adrian Nicole LeBlanc...this book follows a few different people in the ghetto while they grow up, it's got drug dealing, addiction, love, drama...true stories, all really compelling. This book won awards and you will see why if you check it out.
"Candy: A Novel of Love and Addiction" by Luke Davies...this is fiction, but it's realistic in the way it describes the junkie relationship...there's a movie of the same name starring Heath Ledger too.
"Bonk: The Curious Coupling of Science and Sex" by Mary Roach...I love Mary Roach, she writes about bizarre things with a great sense of humor. This book is full of random super-interesting facts about sex and "scientific" research, and I'd totally recommend her other books too, "Stiff" (about cadavers) and "Spook" (about the afterlife). Fucking hilarious AND informative!
Hope you check these out, they're all good books. I read like a fucking maniac, my nose is always buried in a book and I work at a library too, so I thought I'd throw some suggestions out in case anyone else here is a reader like me
