Naked Wizard Taser Brawl At Coachella (VIDEO NSFW)

I watched the video. Was this guy a crazed lunatic with a gun or knife? No. Just a half intoxicated naked guy. What's the penalty for his crime? Maybe a citation and a fine for public nudity. This could have been handled without any violence if good judgement was used by the cops.

Aren't there any rules of engagement when to taze someone? The cops are just getting lazy. The tazer was not justified. It was obvious the guy had no weapons - he was naked! The guy was not threatening or attacking anyone. The police were not in any danger. The tazer should only be an alternative to drawing guns and shooting. It is one step away from lethal force. If these cops were properly trained and motivated just one or two of them should have been able to subdue this guy without any tazer or pepper spray. But was it even necessary to arrest this guy? They could have written him a ticket. Or they could have just stood back at a distance and observed to see if he was threatening people. Do cops have justification to taze a citizen for every minor infraction? If you are caught jaywalking can the cops taze you and brutally arrest you?

America has become a brutal police state. The police use violence instead of common sense. The police are supposed to protect us. Who will protect us from the police?

On a societal level, yeah he was breaking a well known law (not to mention his resistance to the long arm of the law). The cops were patient and respectful up to a certain point, then they went overboard with the "subduing" of the perpetrator.

On a more grounded level, it disturbs me that it's illegal/immoral to choose to be as we were born to be (free to choose to wear clothes or not). It also disturbs me that public service officers that WE pay have a right to abuse the power we allow them to have. And it fucking disturbs me that the people in the crowd were just standing there watching and taunting the cops. We are cattle to the prod of our own fear, stand up and DO something if you don't like it! If even a handful of all the rubberneckers went up to the cops and politely demanded that they deal with this supposed "issue" in a responsible manner and not resort to taking out their personal frustrations and insecurities on this guy who was not harming anyone (other than reminding people that their image is merely superficial and of no real consequence to our existence), the cops would have had to think twice about escalating their actions.

It takes balls to stand up for what is right, I guess most people these days have been castrated. It doesn't take a book or a news anchor to tell us what we already know in our hearts.

I think the tazer was the only unnecessary action. but really, cops arent trained to be professional wrestlers. So if they can't wrestle him into cuffs what else can they do?

It's not up to the police to decide what is a crime and what isn't. Some people just can't get that through their head. Public nudity is a crime, period, and the police don't have the right to decide whether they feel like enforcing the law that day. I know some of them do anyway, and there are many, many posts on bluelight everyday complaining about such incidents. If you want the next officer you encounter to improvise on law enforcement, speak for yourself.

Some of the responses are amazing. These are police at a large music festival. They don't have time to fucking babysit a crackpot for an hour until he decides to cooperate. If I resisted arrest I would fully expect the same thing to happen to me. So the guy maybe has a couple of minor bruises. I think that the least of this guy's problems. He was given so many opportunities to avoid the situation it was almost excessive. And yet he still decided to act like a jackass and so he got arrested. People who think this is "brutal" haven't seen the meaning the term.

I can't believe I'm defending the police. 99% of the time I'm attacking them. But sometimes the other side is even more idiotic.

no, though I agree a lot of times police are just following their duties (though many are assholes by nature, I guess), and the guy was being a jack-ass etc., the tasers and knee-kicks or whatever really are pointless. also, if you fail to see how far the "system" - i.e. the police and the people paying them - are willing to squish you down, you have yet to have your mind even partially opened. even most soldiers and police know and admit how corrupt and cold the system is.

it's like those university experiments where they got "normal" young adults to become complete bastards, even 'murderers', the milgram one and the other. if you have a taser, baton and gun and uniform on you 24/7, then that fat annoying hippy is more likely to get a smash, especially at a 'big name' hippy festival where no one is going to risk their good time/money/life just for justice. i agree the most disturbing thing is that nudity is even illegal. but there is a fine line when it comes to the benefits of society. whatever

Sure they do. Of course police officers have the power to decide not to enforce a law. They are not obligated to arrest everyone they see who is technically committing a crime, especially a non-violent crime that causes nobody to get hurt. Sure if they saw someone committing rape or murder it would be different, but that's not what is happening in this case, is it?

i have mixed opinions...

on one hand, in my personal opinion if that guy is just chillin and happens to be naked...as long as hes not harassing anyone or being a creepy tool than i dont have any qualms with a little public nudity...its a music festival with a shit ton of drugs, music and supposedly a "freer" mindset or whatever than the general population. if this guy was in a shopping mall or something its a WAAAAY different story...its all about context.

on the other hand, the cops were being pretty freaking tolerant for a while. you could tell the guy was really fucked up and they were asking nicely to put his clothes back on. i just feel sad/dissapointed that they had to use violence to arrest him...yes he was "resisting" but laying down a pile driver on his stomach? and he like reacted to getting the breath knocked out of him by moving forward and kinda standing up, then they tased his ass.

i personally wouldnt have done anything to stop this guy havin a good time in the first place, but if i made up my mind to arrest him i wouldnt have used violence against him...just stay cool, keep on trying to arrest him peacefully and talk him down off his trip or whatever.

and the "whole world is watching" guy is a dumbass.

Exactly my thoughts. :)

That pretty much sums it up.

The man was not complacent. He was taunting the police despite given about 12 chances to avoid arrest in a situation in which he could have been immediately arrested in the first place. Then he struggled against them when they tried to get his hands behind his back. Only on bluelight could this guy be painted as a victim. What else could they have done? Bash his head in with billyclub? I think I'd rather be tased.

yup.

since when does sexually harassing a large crowd of people make you a victim?

the crowd could have stopped the police. that would be better, because mob mentality doesn't breed violence or anarchy. seriously, where was the crowd's sense of responsibility?

Yeah, exactly. Hence the MULTIPLE WARNINGS they gave this guy before arresting him.

If the police pull someone over for speeding, they have the right to give the person a warning. This situation is analogous to a person speeding away right after getting the warning, getting another warning, speeding away again, getting another warning, speeding away again, and then getting arrested and fighting against the officers. Would you consider this person to be a victim of police brutality, or a bumbling moron who's asking for trouble?

They gave him plenty of chances to put his clothes on, he still refused.

Police used to arrest people all the time before tasers were invented. Sure, this guy was being a dick but the amount of force used was really quite horrible to watch - I had to turn it off half way through. These police went way above the line and could have arrested him without being so violent.

Anyone that has viewed the Rodney King tape wouldn't dare call what this fool got "police brutality." Here in Austin, which has the most inept and laid back police force imaginable, they tazered a dude on crack to death a few years ago. This guy got it easy except for the knee to the chest by that big cop which was a little overboard. Still, he HAD to have been on something, because I've seen guys three times his size stop struggling after being hit once with a tazer. This cat kept getting the juice over and over and he was still thrashing around like a fish out of water.

I pretty much hate the police, like most people should, because the large majority of them are ego-tripping assholes with delusions of grandeur. Still, you've got to realize that if you're going to act a fool to the cops you're going to get handled.

The guy had PLENTY of chances to just put his weird wizard robe back on and go back to enjoying the festival. Hell, you can hear one of those fatty cops trying to persuade him all politely by saying he could still enjoy the day with his clothes on, etc. Instead, homeboy decided to make a stand for the freedom to show his little turtle head.

I would probably be a lot more sympathetic to this guy if he was defending something a little more meaningful, like the right to free speech or something like that. Instead, all he's doing is grossing people out with that enlarged clitoris of his. Be a man, act like a man, put your robe back on, and enjoy the show without violating other people's rights by scarring them for life with that weird thing the doctor SWORE to you was definitely a penis after he got done with your plastic surgery.....

yeh sure by most police standards it wasnt that brutal...but that's not really saying anything good, obviously...

Instead of a tazer, the cops should carry a bag of marijuana with them. They could have sat down with the naked guy and smoked a few bowls. They could just keep smoking until the naked guy mellowed out and put his clothes back on. :)

If the cops did that in Aus there would have been a shit storm. The taser is used for dangerous situations.

The cops in the video could have arrested him without the taser, there were 3 of them and at one point they had him on the ground. Thats not what they were useing the taser for in this case, they were useing it as a punishment and thats not their job.

But hey if you think its ok to electrocute non violent people in the neck then thats cool, not my country.
