I don't believe I've had one in quite a few years. This morning I was informed by the drunk man child who lives below me that I screamed in my sleep last night. This is very traumatic for me. Night terrors growing up through early adulthood caused a major problem in my life. They fill me with deep guilt and shame. I had one in college where I kicked out the dorm window. The fact I can't recall of it is also deeply disturbing. In the past it was brought on by alcohol use, substance use, heavy eating or poor mental health prior to sleep. Now middle aged, I'm a poly drug user. My failed path is taking one drug one day and a different one the next.

Regarding the night of the terror. I ate some mixed nuts prior to bed. I was on my gabapentin which I thought was effective at keep night terrors away. Yesterday morning I took 4.5g of kratom after a decent 63 hour tolerance break. No Ativan yesterday. I don't drink anymore so I know it wasn't booze related. I also smoked some thc yesterday but I do everyday basically.

If anyone has experience with night terrors and can offer some tips, things you've found throughout the year that prevent them, please let me know. Is there a magic supplement that prevents night terrors?

I used to get sleep paralysis and zopiclone seemed to stop it altogether. However zopiclone can be addictive for some people so you have to watch it. I would argue its less addictive then benzos but thats just me

Thanks for the fast reply. I mean I know for a fact 1mg Ativan will fully prevent my night terrors. But I obviously can't take that nightly. Which brings me to your suggestion of zopiclone. I feel like that's not something you wanna take nightly long term?

Im prescribed zopiclone every night for insomnia but i dont take it every night. If you take breaks dependance isnt a problem with it really from what ive seen. The again ativan is also much the same deal. But with zopiclone addiction is less of a issue from what ive seen anyway

Had these as kid night terrors or Pavor Nocturnus. Way before any druguse seen it happen to someone multiple times very scary. Seems like the person is in a real scary place they look but dont see. Talk or scream but are unresponsive. And like mine zero recollection the next day. Maybe for the best seems like really scary place. Do you sleepwalk or have other sleep disorders bruxisme ao

Sleep paralysis also a familiar thing was druginduced directly or by sleep/ deprivation. After having a few seizures stress related and insomnia that came with it. 7 give or take that didnt respond to anti epileptics. Benzos did work for sleep and preventing seizures. When used wisely that is a very good safety net.

After all that shit got a renovation on my house, causing stress and insomnia. This time i got Hypnagogic dreams. Why ? It has to do with Acetyl-Choline. These are wicked btw. you are conscious able to move. But totally unaware that you are dreaming. Took a lot of effort to get out.

PV seems 100 % out. But able to move so sleepwalking talking is involved. Acetyl-Choline
Never tackled it from that point. Think what you wrote about the eating. Nuts being especially heavy.
And yoyo-ing with drugs could also possibly aggravate it. Hope helps a bit.

Anti Histamines arent these also anti cholinergics.
