Just wanted to say hello and join some discussions about addiction. I'm in my 4th day of Methadone withdrawal . Can anyone point me to the right place for this. I need some advice about these wd. symptoms and to find any relief. Thanks much..

Welcome to blue light hang in there you can give me a shout if you want any tips to ease opiate withdrawal I've been through detox many times.

Thanks very much for the nice comments everyone. This is my 1st attempt to get free of methadone and today is not quite as bad just a slight backache so maybe there is a light at the end of this. I do realize I have probably a long way to go because of my lenghth of being on it....25 friggin' years! It embarrasses me to say that, I feel like an idiot being on so long.. It was a big mistake IMO to get on it in the 1st place because my friends and I were doing mostly dilaudid and it's usually a 3 day kick they say. But we got on the done program and stayed! At the end I was receiving my supply of diskits once a month so I started saving parts of my daily dose and walked off the clinic. So I had a lot when I started tapering down from 110mg. a day to 10mgs. in a little over three months and thats when I started feeling some withdrawal at 10mgs. so thats when I quit.I flushed the rest of the diskits! I never would have done that just a few months ago but I'm bound and determined to get it out of my body for good. I'm excited to start a new life without any drugs or alcohol!! I believe tapering down is the definite way to go! I wouldn't think of going cold turkey on 110! Thanks to all for any advice you can give me for reducing these horrible WD symptoms. I did have to go to my DR. the second day. I had never told him about the done but he was so cool about it.I'm lucky to have a Doc like him.He said he had 11 patients in the same boat. He asked if I wanted meth. pills to taper futher down or Suboxone or Clonidine and xanax. I said no more Done,I'll try the Clon. and Xanax. So, The meds did help some but I still have back pain and sometimes that awful feelings in my arms and legs. Even with the Xanax ..not much sleep the last 5 days....sorry for ramblin but I wanted to tell the whole story..Thanks,Andy

Yeah the forums here are pretty nice if you seek knowledge people are willing to share and if you need support more than enough of that here too

And I do think you should flush those last pills if you really want off them dont have any safety nets or get rid of em all. Stay strong and good luck. You cana always message me when you clear your box too

Yeah,I think I am getting slightly better. My main concern is getting back to work.Just no energy and my job is labor intensive most of the time.I build acoustic guitars and It's hard to sand or Anything. But I got to try because a guys got to eat! Even though soup is all I can handle at this time. How can I get some energy back so I can at least work part time? hah I'm a mr. ;)
I don't know, maybe you can exercise a bit if you feel like it. you 'll feel heaps better after a long run with all those endorphins flowing.

great job btw!

Hiya Andy A. Welcome to Bluelight.

Feel free to ask any questions if you'd like to. You've been given some good links there.

Good luck in quitting methadone. The recovery forums (sober living and The Dark Side) are very supportive as well as one of the focus forums, Other Drugs - which is good for helping with detox, tapers etc.

I hope that you get what you need from the forum.

As a Bluelighters, you're welcome to pm me if you feel you need to talk to someone.

Take care,
Evey

Thanks MR. Comfortably numb. Man,would I like to feel like that now!, Exercise you say? I'm going to try but Jeeez I cant wait to set down after just going out to get the mail.I used to walk a lot before this. I know, I'll start with those finger exercises. You know, point up,point down.lol Maybe get a few of them endorphins woke up.Seriously,I'll start slowly and work my way up to what I was used to. So,it's food, liquids, and the dreaded exercise that will give me back some energy. OK..here we go....later folks...Andy

Ah Ha, another friend shows her pretty face. Hi Evey! Yeah,I'll pm you later..I wish you lived next store,I'm such a slow two finger typer..Appreciate the links you mentioned.Thank you.... Andy
