Mushrooms and Body Pain

thanks for believing that other bluelighters are too stupid to realize they are tensing their muscles.

geez, no need to get so defensive...

i merely proposed a possible reason for pain that might be experienced while tripping.

and i dont see how it's not a possibility. hallucinatory drugs like lsd and psilocybin do cause a change in perception - which could include altered physical perceptions such as amplified pain, other sensations which could be wrongly interpreted as painful, or sensations (eg. uncomfortable positioning, cutting off bloodflow, etc) which may not be recognised or felt (until they are more intense).

i really hate when people transform what others say to try to make a point :
which I imagine is why you are the most fervent believer in the idea that "LSD causes pain in the back of one leg"
i am not a believer that lsd causes leg pain
this is a generalization that i didn't do
but i do know that it causes me this "pain"
so it seems very possible that other people could also have uncommon reactions to, for instance, mushrooms
but I've read enough of the history to know "pains in the back of the leg" have never been a noted feature of mushroom use
Pain in the back of the right leg has never been noted as an effect of LSD use.
this reaction is obviously an exception. could be unique, could just be rare. mushrooms and lsd have not been studied on that many people. and if we're the first cases, hooray for us

Sorry, but it's 99% likely you got a pain in your leg once, immediately decided "It must be LSD" and have a psychosomatic reaction to it ever since.
this is what makes pisses me off
you're insulting me by saying i would be stupid enough not to realize this by myself
and you're imagining how you want it to happen instead of listening when i say what happens
first time i took lsd i got this pain. didn't pay attention at all
second time felt it again. vaguely paid attention
all next times, felt it again. realized it only happened when i took lsd
when i increased the dose the last times, the "pain" increased to
keep telling me it's not correlated.

please stop acting like you know it all and saying "How are mushrooms going to make your legs sore? It's all in your mind or how you're sitting" like deroxor or myself aren't able to have a basic reflection on what could cause these pains
Yes it is, because a pain in the leg with no other symptoms has never been noted as an effect of aspirin use
just for fun, type "aspirin allergy" in google, and see how many results you get.
i counted a few hundreds and then i stopped

everyone's different
and you don't know if there ever was a case of such allergy
there are many "orphan illnesses" that have too few cases to justify any research on them

That simply isn't what an allergy does
wtf???
allergies get all kind of consequences. from skin itch, to swollen tissue, to limb putrefaction, to death by intoxication.
reaction to any poison can be seen as an allergy. the word is just usually used for uncommon reactions.
dying from a snake bite is being allergic to the snake venom . dying from eating cyanide or a peanut comes down to the same. except that few people are allergic to peanut while everyone is to cyanide. dying from a snake bite is being allergic to the snake venom

How many deaths from mushrooms have been reported?
stop trying to give another meaning to what i said.
obviously, if some person 300 years ago had died from mushroom intoxication in some village, you wouldn't know about it
so what i said is "maybe there were and we're not even aware of it"
have a problem with the "maybe... not aware" part?

i get worse stomach pains from eating a bag of candy than I do from mushrooms
but since you know so much about " the history", surely you're aware that stomach problems are common even on low doses of mushrooms, which is not the case about low doses of most genuine foods

Dehydration can also cause leg cramps in some people.
if a drug causes dehydration and dehydration causes cramps, then the drug causes cramps
when mdma releases serotonin in your brain, you say "taking mdma makes you happy", not "it has nothing to do with mdma, it's only the serotonin"

I've had similar sensations with LSD and LSA. I feel almost electric-pains in my legs, usually lower near my ankles. I read somewhere that indole-related substances can possibly disable vassoconstrictors. Not sure if this is valid information or not, however.

Still happens allot and its starting to piss me off. is there anymore info on what this could be??? it only seems to happen to my leggs and nowere els on my body.

when i have tension in my muscles i try to address it before it gets to the point of real pain. generally i try to do some yoga or stretch really thoroughly before tripping to keep this from happening. also what helps is to tense up the area intentinoally as much as possible and hold it a little bit then just relax and let go completely... if none of that helps then go get acupuncture. though thats not too realistic while your tripping maybe the tension you experience on the psychedelics is a case where you become more sensitive to your body. generally most people dont have great posture and dont get enough exercise. well maybe not but i know that i dont.

something like this happened to my friend on 2 grams of shrooms. he just collasped in the hallway and couldn't walk. we had to drag him into his dorm and lift him onto his bed. in a few hours he was able to move again and he was fine.

i've had immense pain in my foot muscles before on roughly 50g fresh trips, i believed there was something seriously wrong with me.

My personal experience has been that the muscles in my body that tend to be weak from underuse feel like they are atrophying, as if my body is telling me that before I can comfortably trip, I must strengthen my body, as well as my mind.

I also had an intense pain on my throut (sp?) right where the adam's apple is. This was from a combination of 5g Mexicana + unknown ammount of alcohol. It was pretty hars, it felt like my guts were coming out... and you know the small round things under your throut, they had swallen up too.

Quote from shroomery guy:

"Physical manifestations of psychological symptoms.

Sometimes you think you are feeling something, but you aren't. You can believe some extreme pain"

Well if you are believeing this pain and there is no way denying it... how fake can it be? It dosn't matter wether you immagine it or not, if it hurts, it hurts.

The "small round things under your throat" are probably your lymph nodes. They tend to swell when you have infections or some types of sickness or disease.

Are you sick?

No I wasn't sick in any way at that time. It was really painfull and it felt like they were planning to escape my throut. :/

Other than some very bad stomach cramps I've never been in any other pain on shrooms even on a quarter or dried cubes. The last time I did shrooms I felt "poisoned" and couldn't stand for more than a few seconds...but I found out that was standing still, I walked no problem. When I was on the quarter I had most horrible feeling all over like I was dying, it really felt like shit. There was no pain involved but it was a feeling worse than nausia all over my body. Shrooms are weird...I like acid.

FisheyeLens %)

Newbie with Acid now, I find that i sometimes get the exact same pain "Feelings" only its in my arms, it only happens when i flex them, then the pain starts.

ive had similar experiences with mushrooms and acid, one time i was laying in bed on mushrooms for a while and i stood up and i felt sharp pain in focused points all over my legs, like tiny pulled muscles. on acid ive had some pretty fucked up chest pain, muscle tension/spasms/locking. usually the stomach aches are just gas though, i tend to fart a lot when im frying.

I get this sometimes. I pick fresh from the field, cubensis, and every once in a while my inner thigh will hurt. Now I never thought it was the mushrooms, not at least a direct result. I always thought maybe I was tensing the muscles without realizing it. But then I tried LSD for the first time, and got the same pain in the same spot, and, fuck a myth, pain in my back. I was 15, no way my back hurt from bad posture or anything like that. Young and healthy. The acid started hurting my back within 15 min.s of putting it on my tongue. I had never heard that it caused pain. I injured my back when I was small, so I figured I was aggravating it by tensing my muscles, which is a common effect of both LSD and mushrooms, and I think still think that might have something to do with it.But over time I had friends say they got the same thing, some at different places on their body, some the same. I do not always get pain in my legs from mushrooms, but I ALWAYS get pain in my back from LSD. It is a real phenomenon no matter its cause. Anyone who says differently has never had it, and thats all, they have just never had it. Those of us that have will agree. Something else I have noticed is that most of the pains seem to be around or on a chakra center. I think that all of these have been described here in this thread, we have the head, headaches, the throat, as one gentleman described and I have heard of it before, the heart, or chest, the solar plexus, or stomach, the groin and thigh area, and the feet, the root chakra. As you see, its an interesting correlation. The mystics say that the pain is from blocked energy, or kundalini. This is well documented. Crazy part is they say it is a blockage of poison in the area. The poison being the negative energy, or whatever. Seems like what was describe by others here. I am not saying that this is whats causeing it, although I think it is. It certainly explaines it, and why in those spots. There are breathing excerises that you can do to clear the chakras, since I have been doing them I have had no pain from mushrooms, not yet anyway. But the pain while on acid is still there.

or you could just be overtensing your muscles without realising it - because you're high. Your muscle cramps, maybe you feel a slight pain, and the fact that you're tripping is going to alter your perceptions of this.

I'm sure many of us have had hallucinations of ... For example, maggots crawling out of our skin, or other random hallucinations. Hallucinations are not just linked to our visual sense however! We can also have aural hallucinations and other sensory hallucinations/physical sensations - eg. Pain where there is perhaps not/only minor pain.

It's most likely all in your head guys ;)

of the chemicals found in analysed specimens of most psilocybin/psilocin containing mushrooms, most of them are not psychoactive (and if they are, not in the amounts that they are present in), except perhaps baeocystin(sp?). Nor should any of these chemicals cause any physical sensations.

You're tripping guys, you're tripping.

+1

:)

I've had far more "toxic" feeling trips in comparasin to others. Where I don;t feel so much euphoric as just plain ODD. This sensation is is akin to the difference in LSD trips where some are wrought with body urking and tension whereas trips from the same batch will give you the best experiences ever. completely random.
