Help! Mushroom Trip - always the same issues

I always seem to have the same issue when I trip.

I took 2.5g of dried shrooms a couple of weeks ago & I spent the whole trip very uncomfortable, moving from room to room, sweating lots & feeling paranoid & really clammy. I also felt kind of disorientated and confused.

I ALWAYS get these dark closed eye visuals, I’m talking about twisted disabled people, old people, strange medieval people, proper awful demented shit…. As soon as I close my eyes it comes crashing into my vision which in turn makes me feel fuckin weird. I did have a few minutes of incredibly detailed trippy imagery which was incredible. I’ve tried to keep my eyes clothes but the imagery is so fucked up that it is really hard & it makes me question my sanity? Haha I felt good going into the trip, I was home alone, music sounded great & It is not particularly difficult for me to manage this, I can just kind of laugh about it at the time but I don’t seem to be able to control it, it’s more frustrating than anything.

I think it could be to do with smashing mdma and 5htp for many years. Anyone else have any similar effects? I purposely took a slightly higher dose the last time because I thought that would blast me off further…… The EXACT same imagery seems to appear on LSD but I have never seen any of these images in my day to day life & I am confused WHY I always come to the same point. It only happens when my eyes are closed. I would usually come out of a trip feeling a benefit mentally but I didn’t seem to gain anything from this one. I guess I am just broken? I am just curious if there’s any way to navigate this? I’m not sure if it’s just a representation of how fucked up my way of thinking is or just psychedelics aren’t for me.
This doesn’t happen with 2cb, only LSD and mushrooms

There are any number of reasons why that could happen. If your day to day reality is fairly solid, maybe you have some kind of underlying fear (or subconscious something) that comes up when you take a psychedelic.

A personal and very relatable experience is that “reality disappeared” the last time I took LSD. One minute I was taking a shower and the next I was in a void (that’s the only way to put it). Since then I have meditated on it and journaled and even talked to my therapist to work through it.

This did happen at a point in my life where “reality” was feeling rather thin. It took me a while to realize that I was losing touch with my “self”. It sounds like you’re treading close to ego death. It isn’t a comfortable thing to experience, but it can really be eye opening.

My suggestion would be to embrace the discomfort and work through it. Not every psychedelic experience is recreational. Know what I mean?

Mushrooms are some of the more difficult psychedelics. You might try converting the psilocybin to psilocin which many find has less side effects (especially if you tend to enjoy the tail end of the trip better). Just grind the dried mushrooms into a powder, soak in a shot glass of lemon juice overnight, and slam it.

The moment you feel you are going back to the same thought loop do something different - go for a walk. Try taking it early in the day and go out in thevsu.

No, the active "ingredient" is the same, stop spreading this "4-AcO is different" myth
Who is spreading myths lol?

Everyone i know who have done 4aco says its very different from shrooms.

Even different strains of cubensis have quite different effects.
4acodmt has way different bodyload and visuals compared to mushies.

Just because science says that 4aco turns into 4ho blabla doesnt really say much.

Obviously basicly everyone has different effects from it, so f#ck your science bro.

Well now you know one who doesn't. Me

Oh that says pretty much everything about the quality of these 4-AcO-uniqueness promoting posts. If you disagree I'd be happy to exchange baking soda for currency (in Minecraft of course), since apparently the chemistry of the substance doesn't matter.

All differences between the two come down to placebo and/or the ROA used, fight me

My point was that science doesnt Always make sense when guessing how these substances behave.
There is also the point of other chemicals in the mushrooms.
Could be some potentition there?
Have you ever had pure psilocin or psilocybin?
I bet those are closer to 4aco.

I usually try to avoid talking in absolutes when discussing something so subjective as a psychedelic experience.

Mushrooms for example seems to hit people very different.
With cubensis i usually get way more nausea and confusion compared to liberty caps.
I grew several kinds of cubes and some were way more bodyload and less visuals compared to other.

Anyway with 4aco-dmt i get basicly zero of the mushroom side effects.
I would say the effects are alot more like oral dmt but without the nausea.
However the duration of the effects are basicly like shrooms.

Well yes and no, the point isn't that psilocybin and 4-AcO-DMT experiences are the same, but rather, that these two compounds turn into the very same compound (psilocin), and therefore they are identical, no further research is needed into 4-AcO, as we know how it works.
There is also the point of other chemicals in the mushrooms.
Well there's baeocystin, but it doesn't seem to be psychoactive, and even if it were, it would be extremely similar to psilocybin, besides that there's not really anything. I doubt it has much impact

It's been suggested here that the conversion process is highly dependent on the person. I wouldn't write off hundreds of impressions either.

You have THE right to have your opinion.
Mine is quite different though, science is never settled imo.
We just find new and better ways to measure different things.

This is not a matter of opinion or "unsettled science".

It's not only a known fact that 4-AcO gets converted to 4-HO almost immediately, but also, that the size of the acetoxy group on the 4th position is too large for effective binding to the receptors to occur. Look at 4-MeO-DMT, not only is it very weakly active, it is substantially smaller than the acetoxy group.

Even if 4-AcO-DMT would "survive" in the body (which it doesn't), the conformation required for binding is not present

This discussion has been had countless amount of times, including papers etc. You can't just put aside thousands of experiences.
If you don't notice any differences I'd go as far as to say you're unlucky, 4-AcO-DMT is fantastic.

Not so fast hooh! There is a difference in 4aco than shrooms, which is 4aco becomes more like oral dmt the more you take. Never been able to recreate that with shrooms. And i think its active by itself too - no proof of anything either way but its a good bet that ive taken more mushrooms than anyone alive (at least 25 kilos) and more 4 aco in higher doses too - so my opinion counts as much as any gentleman you might meet.

4aco - dont come knockin when the caravans rockin! 😀

I've been interested in this. Do you have to adjust the dosage?
