Due to a cold summer I see what are like liberty caps popping up in places, can any seasoned veterans confirm that the season has started

will put the word out and go picking soon.my mate has a few spots that produce a nice crop.sometimes they make me a bit sick but the trip is worth it.

It's fairly early for the season to be swirly right now.
It doesn't start kicking off till mid-late September at the soonest. Well, that's atleast the case for over here in Ingerlund, and I can't see how different it would be to Ireland to be honest :?

The weather has been different - and more ideal - compared to last year and does bode better for this season but I still think it's too soon and you're seeing a few look-a-likes.

Thanks, they are probably lookalikes, will post some pics get out my books n get the research going
Should I or can you change the thread to UK/Ireland so

Yea good plan mate :) Make sure you wash your hands if you end up picking them (just incase - Can't be too careful ;) ) and yes I'll change the title to UK / Ireland / Anywhere else for you :)

There will defo be some around now. I've gone picking this time of year many times.

Well maybe the last week of August.

Honestly it won't be time yet. At the very least, it won't be even the start to the season.
As far as I'm aware, Summer hasn't even behun in my eyes - Sure we've had a few hot days but nothing constant.
Nor have we had any constant rain or cooler temperatures.

I honestly think that there's a while to wait yet peeps :)

Been coming up in fair numbers for the last 2 or 3 weeks, above about 1000 feet. Below about 800 feet nothing yet. For me the early season is all about altitude. Can be localised but once you find some early season spots, they're usually good year after year

I once loved shrooms as i watched a giant toadstool like the red and white ones from mario fly across the sky with 2 aliens inside a room at the top of it smiling down at me until the time i almost died from taking them and shall never take them again !!

how do u almost die from shrooms u ask ? im guessing i picked a batch that was sprayed and i was alergic to the shit cos my heart dropped to 13 bpm for a couple of seconds while in hospital and i felt my self drift away as i looked at the heart monitor and no at that point i was out of the trip so it wasnt an hallucination also i remember a woman shouting for help as the alarms started to beep on the monitor

There are definitely liberty caps starting to appear in the UK - photos are starting to come out, around here though there is none needs a few more weeks.

Yeah I'm hoping to go for a look for some once I've handed my project in - theres a fair bit of rural, high ground to the North of Leeds, and I think these could make potentially good hunting grounds.

the local patch near me is a 'no grow' zone atm :( might be because i was coming up on some sweet sweet 2ci !!!! but i couldnt see any, too early is my conclusion
n.b the clouds look amazing today!

Sometimes they come up in August - isolated patches which are prone to dying off when the sun returns and maybe not any at all in your usual spots- but there none the less.

We usually get an early flush on Dartmoor about late July, eary August, then they disappear and come back in october....never known it anywhere else i've lived...haven't been ot looking this year though...

im pretty shocked too im up north so get the cooler weather before everyone down south and we dont usually see them until end of september early october

and i just noticed in some gardens we are just starting to see proper opium poppies getting ready to open and flower and how long ago did you guys get that down south ? so vice versa for shrooms you guys down south should see them later than we do up here

I live in West Yorks and remember coming across them this time last year in August. Enough for the proper first trip of the season! So yes they can arrive this early. It was the earliest I'd ever seen them last year so I expect it could be the same this time. Especially with the early crop of bilberries a couple of week ago, which can be an indication to the harvest starting early ;-)

i thought i seen a couple liberty caps about last week but i thought it was far to early. im no expert on shroom picking so is there any tips people could give me?
