tomorrow morning will possibly be my last opportunity to go shroom hunting, given it's meant to be getting colder and frost is getting more frequent. to take advantage of this I need to be up at 7am [!] and be back running errands elsewhere for 11am. not sure how I'm gonna extract myself from my quilt at such an unreasonable hour and be on the wolds for 8am to give me a few hours to forage, but if i don't go I know I'll kick myself for being such a sloth, come January.
pray for me BL peeps. and somehow make sure I'm up and at em, kthnx
some pics from last week:
I was informed about the existence of these beauties by a buddy last week, and that they were growing near to where i forage ... apparently it's
blackthorn, and these are sloe berries? and you can turn them into a port like liqueur over a fairly short number of weeks? Anyone here ever managed to do that? ...
if it's fairly easy to do, I might see if there's any left to pick when I go out tomorrow. since it's been hurricane level winds all week, they'll of probably disappeared by now, but y'never know.
this carcass was slightly worse for wear than the week before, I was surprised it was still there. I was
this close to bringing it home and sending it to mailmonkey to make some soup out of, but I didn't have a bag large enough
what an absolute beast:
started getting too dark to pick anything, but even though it was dusk, this baby stood out and waved at me just as I was about to hop over the last stile and get into the car
more yummy sheep pooz
ID anyone?
