Just came back. Found a dozen decent sized ones. Going to head to my other fav picking spot later and should get a better yield (from my experience).

Not sure mate, but for me I've never had a problem getting cubes later in the day. Some look a tad sad from the sun, but there are always some in perfect nick hiding in some grass.

Which state are you in? Im in NSW and dosent look like we'll be gettin a whole lot of rain in the next 7 days.

Im wondering if I should still go for a hunt after just a bit of rain?

Or do they thrive best after massive downfalls?

Your best bet is within 24-48 hours of rainfall. 48 pushing it in my experience.

Today is a good day!
Today it has stopped raining and the sun is out and shining!
And so today I shall pick cubes until I can carry no more, store a dozen in the fridge for the weekend and then dry several dozen more!

I dunno about you mate but my FRIDGE keeps things fresh/cool and my FREEZER FREEZES things.

If you freeze fresh shrooms once they thaw they will turn to a purple goo, as the cells get destroyed when the water expands and turns to ice - similar to how lettuce goes soggy.

I believe suspending shrooms in honey keeps them fresh. But in terms of practicality, just dry em properly and degradation will be negligible.

The active dose of his preferred species is 0.5-1g pan cyan or subs. Thats my dose with those 2 species and azurs.

Jesus heythatsmybike, I would never even bother to go looking at this time of year. There has been some rain but I generally find the temperatures need to be a lot lower before its worth the hassle. I am in the South Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne too, based on your early findings I could hazard a few guesses roughly where you are.

Verybuffed I must confess, I do not care for the mushrooms at all anymore. I abused them in the past and lately they have brought me nothing but discomfort, confusion and nausea. Back in '07 I actually managed to give myself HPPD through mushroom overuse.

I have never dosed an active mushroom species that wasn't subaeruginosa so I can't compare a cube dose to a sub dose, I do know that subaeruginosa aswell as most other wood loving psilocybes, are several times the potency of your average cube.

My active dose of subs depends greatly on my tolerance at the time. In recent times of much less frequent use I recall tripping quite fucking hard off 1.3 grams brewed in a tea using the lemon TEK.

I swore myself off the shrooms last year but lately I have been considering trying them again this year. Maybe a more conservative dose or not drinking them in a tea which is the only way I have really done it for a long time.

It isn't hard to learn how to pick properly, like I have picked SO many mushrooms and never gone wrong. The rule of thumb is 'If in doubt, throw them out'. If you live in Melbourne they grow like a weed.

Demanufacturer we are picking subs down here, you wont see any cubes, infact the only other active mushrooms on VIC, if you can call them that, are laughing gyms. Oh and I suppose Amanita Muscaria but the profile of psychoactives in Amanita Muscaria is entirely different, being muscamole and ibotenic acid. That is unless you buy into the theory of the subspecies of subaeruginosa which is plausible but unless your a mycologist doesn't mean a whole lot.
