Mushroom season 2009

I went hunting today in south east queensland in the cow paddocks after a lovely bout of rain.

I know this isnt an identifying thread, but we basically found a shit ton of white mushies with browny/gold tops (cubensis, but ill get them identified nonetheless). The others were darker blue/white tops with thin dark stems. I dont trust these as much, but seeing as ive never done it before, maybe my distrust is unjust ;)

Basically, has anyone in QLD ever had these before? Just looking for some reassurance :)

Nice work man!
Those definitely sound like cubes.
In terms of the others... there are some magic species which suit that description, however, there are various inactive species which also fit the discription and are also dung-living. I would be careful with these and tbh, wouldnt bother if you have cubes.

I tend to use those as an indicator that there will be other shrooms around, cubes especially.

Found a couple of soggy cubes today, still raining in SEQLD though, hopefully some sunshine will be out soon so I can get picking :D

Thanks for the info.

One more question. Hows the smell if i dry them in the oven?

Edit: Another question. Just to ease my mind. What are the chances are that ive picked a dangerous one?

^
Best to have someone whose picked them before to tell you if possible. If not, as Drug_mentor said a few posts ago, get a photo of it and post it on the shroomery they will identify for you. At Bluelight we have less expertise then they do over there, so thats your best bet.

Happy shrooming =D
Party safe

If you don't know what they are man don't eat them. If there is any doubt in your mind then don't take the risk. Seriously.

^ there are always going to be doubts, noone can ever say 100% sure over from a picture on the internet that a particular mushie is a particular species, not even shroomery.

all you can do is be as educated as you can be... so head to shroomey my tripping friend!

Yeah you can mate it's easy if you know what you're looking for, you even see them in your dreams. But if you don't have the years of experience that are absolutely required don't take the risk.

If you had of posted a pic on the shroomery when you made your post Frozanics you'd probably have an answer by now.

Not sure mate, never dried them myself.

And for that I really encourage you to get a solid ID on shroomery at least, and if possible a phyisical ID by an experienced shroom hunter. When it comes to mushrooms it is better to be safe than sorry (dead).

Thanks for the care and other such particular brand of love!

I sorted them into piles and have a shitton of something that look similar to cubes, a handful of cubes and some of those scary looking black ones im not going to touch.

Ive eaten some caps off the ones i know to be cubes and am now chilling out and waiting for something to happen :)

Look up the number for poisoning in the Yellow pages at least and let us know that you are aware who to call if you have any dramas - PLEASE

No I mean the poisons information line in your specific state. You can take the piss all you want but going by the information you posted I am worried that you don't really know what your consuming. I think that's a fairly safe assumption.

Funny you said that because last night I did infact dream about mushies =D
and remember waking up thinking of which ones I could and could not take :p

Did he report back? Geeeez what is it with people consuming things they dont even know what it is. Pick a poisonous one (even just a small one) with a bunch of good shrooms and risk death? Please be educated people.

I would like to add... Don't dry your shrooms in the oven. Put them on a piece of newspaper near a source of running air like a very low fan heater or something for many hours and keep checking. You can over do it in the oven.

Verybuffed I have never, nor will I ever attempt to grow mushrooms so I don't "find it hard", I have researched how it was done and a lot of it seemed finicky and a lot could go wrong. It probably isn't difficult when you have some experience but I still fail to see the point when, in Melbourne atleast, you can pretty much guarantee there will be THOUSANDS within a few kilometre radius of your house. Factor in that the mushrooms in the wild are much more potent than cubensis and it just doesn't make any sense to me.

Cool. I don't know much about shrooms and am trying to educate myself about them, I appreciate your response.

I can tell how much you guys like them by the way you all speak about them in your posts. I am just confused as to why you guys wouldn't want to grow them yourselves if you like them so much? I would have thought you'd prefer to enjoy all different varieties all year round - I am trying to relate it to my experience with Cannabis :)

With the wild mushrooms that you say are much more potent than cubes; what is the active dose for the "wild" ones and what is the active dose for cubes in your experience? Thanks again DM.
