Mushroom season 2009

Been looking at the past seasons threads, it seems that the p. subs run pretty rampant in Melbourne are they as common in SA or will they require more hunting?

This will be my first time hunting getting some e-books atm, any other good sites other than shroomery.org?

Even though there was little rain last season it wasn't all that hard to find subs around Melb

Some of the more exposed places had less than usual but that was all i really noticed in the city.

Some places in the country such as paddocks where they used to grow between the long grass never even pinned last year.

I found that sitch in tassie as well
last year was strange, quite dry and the epic paddock patches of 2007 were really shithouse, probably due to a hard raping that year and the lack of rain in 08.....Hopefull they will be back with a vengance this year!

JUst curious as nobody has braught it up yet.. Does anyone collect Amanita muscaria's and eat them? For those who don't know their the big red mushrooms with white dots on them (like the mushrooms in the smurfs) I came across a decent amount of them last year however never ended up eating them, may end up doing so this year.

ive heard some ppl eat em mate but just be careful cause apparently its a bit of a prep to make sure they are safe and i was told by few ppl its not worth the effect u get, very dissaciotive sorta feeling

I LOVE MUSHROOM SEASON YAY!!!
havent been on ere for a long time guys i think there is only one person that will remember me haha
let the fungi grow....

I have once tried and also met a few users of Amanita muscaria over the years.

It's more of a delirium than a psychedelic experience.

There are key steps in preparation that must be followed for your own safety.

I don't recommend it but i do know a few people who quite enjoy datura and they indulge in amanita before the subs fruit each year.

Is someone who gets paranoid on weed likely to get paranoid/have a bad trip on mushrooms? You hear often that shrooms are a decidely 'darker' psychedelic than others.

I just wanted to put in my $0.02...

I can't really smoke weed at all these days, it just makes me tired and anxious and weird but I love my psychedelics still. I had mushrooms for the first time about a month ago, and it went very well and I had a lot of fun. I didn't feel as though the trip was darker, but it was different to an LSD/2C-E/DOB/DOC trip, it was a lot more emotional I guess for lack of a better word. But as has been pointed out, set and setting was a must and I was with two good friends in the comfort of my own home without any worries at all at the time.

Hello everybody, I thought it'd be best to post in this thread instead of just opening a new one which could possibly leave myself open to personal attacks.

I would be considered 'new' to Shrooms by many of you, infact I have never even had a shroom before.

I've gained knowledge about them through my own study, most importantly to understand the risks of hunting.

I thought about just growing them, but really, for me it would eliminate alot of the fun, and respect for the Mushroom and for Nature. ;)

I've heard so many different things, IE: They grow after one days rain in any cow field, they grow after a few days rain inforests, which I believe well, minus the rain to be a myth.

Could anybody please assist me as to how I could better find some mushrooms? :D

Thanks, in advance :x

their around now, go to a patch and look if you are aware of what they look like. theirs a site on the net somewhere that lists known patches look that up till you know abit more then go look for them in your own places

Had my first mushie trip for the year last night :D. Didn't go quite as hard as I would of liked too (limited amount at the patch we picked) but it was a fun trip none the less. Happy hunting and tripping guys ;).

Has anyone had any luck in the western suburbs of melb? I don't want locations but I just find it hard to believe that things could be so different to eastern side of melb. Though I do admit I spent a significant amounts of time last season searching through what should have been ideal mushroom growing locations and found nothing (lots of mushrooms, wrong types).

West melb is drier than the east due to elevation and less protected from the winds that travel across the bay

They don't really come up in the west till late May but they're always up on the penninsula and in the s.e burbs by late April.

The s.e burbs get frosts and hold the moisture for longer, earlier in the season. Being at the base of the dandenongs helps this.

You might get the odd random sub but my advice is to do what i'm doing....

Wait for more rain and night temps in "your" area to drop down to low single digits

Should be plenty in the next week or so, there's a bit of rain on the way

Dude, I allready know most of what that can tell me. Golden tops are the only kind that grow in Australia that grow wild in NSW and QLD. I need an experienced hunters help.

WRONG

Hi Synthetec

Gold tops aka Psilocybe Subaeruginosa are the "native" southern winter species.

THEY GROW ON DECAYING WOOD AND THEY DO NOT GROW IN COW SHIT!!!

They are NOT the only species of psilocybe mushroom that grows in Australia.

The cow paddocks of northern NSW and S.E QLD are famous for their imported mexican mushroom that grows during the rainy season aka Psilocybe Cubensis. My friends are doing their best to spread this mushroom into wet parts of W.A and the N.T. with some success.

All the info you need can be found online.

What area of Aus are you in for a start?

Australia is a big country and there's every chance they are either out of season or don't grow in your area

Psilo

S.E Melb is going off guys and girls...

Western Vic has limited success in some area's such as The Grampians but it is really early in the season for most places other than Melbourne and Tasmania so save your hunting energy and wait for another fortnight.

By then we'll have seen plenty more rain and the all important frosty mornings where i have a bastard of a time getting the ice off my car windows :)
