Man Bites Dog - Deliciously disturbing tale of a French serial killer with a taste for postmen.

Has English subtitles and won in Cannes 15 years ago.

I thought that movie was just... sick. I did like the part when they stumbled across the other film crew doing a documentary on a different serial killer.

Pink Flamingoes....totally.

Pink Flamingoes RULEZZ!!! Masterpiece!
But my faforite weird movie is russian brilliant "Kin-Dza-Dza" - many people from around the world thinks, that this movie is the best psychedelic weird film ever!

naked lunch still wiggs me out too much to finish the damn film. :)

nelson munts: i can think of two things wrong with that title.

I really like Sublime. watched it tripping once and it was very odd but entertaining :)

agreed - it's a great belgian movie :)

one of my favourite weird movies is russ meyer's beyond the valley of the dolls which always delivers thrills and laughs when i'm high.

i also love the daft punk movie interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem which is, for sure, a little weird.

finally, for me, many of the dogme movies certainly identify as weird but perhaps none more than idioterne (the idiots) which i love.

Funny Games and Satan's Little Helper. Hardly anyone has even heard of Satan's Little Helper, which was about an 8 year boy seeing a guy in a devil mask killing some guy on Halloween. The kid thinks it's make believe, like the guy in the devil mask is from his video game called Satan's Litle Helper,in which you score points for helping Satan kill people. So the kid follows him around and pretty much helps the guy kill people, all the time thinking it's make believe. It's a funny little fucked up movie and pretty decent to be a low budget, direct to video release.

Satan's Little Helper was not a "weird" movie. It was a "bad" movie.

Seriouly. The entire movie was an exercise in mental retardation. It wasn't even bad in a good way, it was just plain bad.

Russ Meyer AND Roger Ebert...

credit where credit is due.
i've given ebert his credit plenty of times - it's one of my favourite scripts of all time. that said, it's a bit clunky (and not at all common) to refer to a movie using the name of both the director and writer...

Says you. The Satan's Little Helper I saw was a good movie. You must have seen another movie or *gasp!* have a different opinion.

God help us if there are more than one version of that stinker.

We can get into the "subjectivity" argument if you like, but you can ask Ali... it will get you no where. A bad movie is a bad movie, plain and simple. I'm usually willing to admit when a movie that really is subjectively bad has at least one redeeming feature, but there ARE movies that have absolutely none. Satans Little Helper is one of them. Not even Amanda Plummer, who usually does a good job of saving movies with her bat-shit crazy acting, could not save this great example of all around bad film making.

But, in the spirit of discussion, please... what exactly do you think makes this movie so good?

all my favorite movies are "weird" movies

the fountain, i heart huckabees, science of sleep, ed wood, 21 grams, lost highway

I thought it was a fun movie. The kid was oblivious to everything, which made him partially responsible for the deaths of quite a few people, including his own dad. I liked the "Satan" character and his interaction with the kid. It was creepy and kind of enduring at the same time. Sorry that I don't have the time nor care to give it a Siskel type review like I've seen you do many times with other movies. I liked the movie. You didn't. What else is there to say?
