Police seize over 12 kg of heroin outside Moscow

Police seize over 12 kg of heroin outside Moscow

MOSCOW, November 15 (RIA Novosti) - Police seized over 12 kilograms of heroin in a special operation outside Moscow to fight drug trafficking channels, a police spokesman said on Sunday.

The operation was carried out on Saturday on the 124th km of the Ural highway when the police stopped a car that was presumably transporting narcotic drugs, the spokesman said.

"During the car's inspection, the operatives found more than 12.5 kg of heroin," the spokesman said.

An estimated 90% of heroin consumed in Russia is trafficked from Afghanistan via the ex-Soviet states of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan.

The vast majority of heroin consumed in Europe passes through Russia on its way from Afghanistan, where illegal drug production has reportedly increased more than 40 times since U.S. forces toppled the radical Islamic Taliban movement in 2001.

NDLEA Seizes N2.2 Billion Drugs At Lagos Airport

National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has seized 507.936 kilogrammes of illicit drugs worth over 2.2 billion naira in nine months at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) Lagos.

The breakdown of the drugs seized between January and November as released by the anti-narcotics agency shows cocaine to have the highest quantity with 172.930 kilogrammes, cannabis follows with 170.554 kilogrammes, psychotropic substances 121.100 kilogrammes while heroin is 43.352 kilogrammes.

The agency also said that a total of 139 suspected drug traffickers were arrested within the period under review comprising of 127 males and 12 females, stating that the month of July had the highest seizure of 135.066 kilogrammes with 15 arrests while in February 19.04 kilogrammes of drugs were seized with 13 arrests.

The oldest among the suspects is 64-year-old Folayan Elizabeth, a mother of seven that ingested 1.060 kg of cocaine. She was arrested on November 17, 2009 during screening of passengers on Iberia flight.

The youngest suspect, 19-year-old student, Adetola Odufuwa studying in Cyprus was nabbed on August 23, 2009 with 5.050 kg of cannabis concealed in powdered milk container in his luggage.

One Ukoh Ifeanyi, 45-year-old business man however broke Agency's record on April 4, 2009 when he excreted 3.349 kilogrammes of cocaine on his way to Germany. Ukoh John is the first suspect to ingest a whopping 3.349 kg of narcotic drug in the history of Nigeria's drug control.

Chairman/Chief Executive of the NDLEA, Ahmadu Giade who vowed to make drug trafficking unattractive to encourage the principle of diligence said, "It has become pertinent that we daily increase our commitment to the anti-narcotic campaign as every seizure made translates to incapacitation of drug syndicates. "

"If we fail to stop the drug barons, deny them of the illicit proceeds and place a commensurate sanction on them, we will end up aggravating the problem of moral decadence in the society," Giade stated.

While calling for more public support in the Agency's drive for a crime free society, he warned drug barons that the Agency will go the extra-mile in halting the obnoxious trade in narcotics and psychotropic substances.

In a related development the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) weekend arrested a 70-year-old woman who was allegedly found to be in possession of 793.5kg of hemp in Numan, Adamawa.

The state Commander of NDLEA, Malam Hassan Zungere said the woman was arrested with a 62-year-old man, believed to be a renowned Indian hemp dealer in Numan.

"The suspects were arrested with 99 bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp weighing 793.5kg," Zungeru said. He said the suspects were arrested in male suspect's mother's house on Kwata street, Numan, where the exhibits were concealed in a warehouse.

Zungeru said the man was a renowned hemp dealer, who had been in business for many years. "it is sad to note that the immediate community has been tolerating this drug dealer for long," he said. He said the man's activities had encouraged many youths to engage in drug addiction and become threats to the community.

He warned other persons who were in the business to stop to avoid punishment. "There is no sacred cow to be spared in our collective effort of ridding the state and the nation of the canker worm of drug abuse and illicit drug trafficking," he warned

He said the command had commenced investigations into the arrests and would charge the suspects to court soon.

Vancouver police seize ecstasy pills stamped with Olympic rings

Vancouver police have found a stash of ecstasy pills stamped with the Olympic rings.

Officers responding to a 911 call about a home invasion in the 4300 block of Nanaimo Street discovered the drugs, according to a Vancouver Police Department press release sent out today (December 10).

Police seized 107,000 ecstasy pills (worth over $1 million on the street), as well as a six-ounce “partial brick” of cocaine ($17,000).

“Some of the ecstacy tablets were imprinted with peace signs and the Olympic rings,” the release stated.

In the release, Inspector Brad Desmarais of the department’s gangs and drugs section called the find “one of the top 5 largest seizures in Vancouver”.

Charges have not yet been laid against two men arrested by the police. They have both been released with conditions.

Ecstasy is a psychoactive drug that contains—or is represented as containing—the synthetic substance 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine, or MDMA.

hmmmmm.....

... wonder if they'll find a way to get this thrown out because of the way the evidence was found

^We can only hope, it sounds like there may be a possibility of it.

Or this ^

They're assuming they contain MDMA. I think I recall these pills as being legit, but we can only hope they're full of TFMPP this time. They haven't charged him with intent yet, so this may fall under legal possession of a piperazine. That is IF they only contain pipes, even a miligram of MD** will fuck them sadly.

More drug busts (2010-2011)

Marines and Afghan border police recently seized more than six tons of illegal drugs during operations in southern Afghanistan.

Members of the 4th Light Armored Reconnaissance Battalion, a Reserve unit based out of Camp Pendleton, Calif., and local border police found about 13,200 pounds of processed opium and about 175 pounds of processed, refined heroin in Helmand province, according to a 2nd Marine Expeditionary Brigade release.

The illegal drugs, along with weapons and materials to make improvised explosive devices, were discovered in two abandoned trucks last week during a five-day operation where Marines and border police targeted enemy trafficking routes in southern Helmand.

In another seizure, more than 2,600 pounds of processed opium was confiscated.

SW Missouri officers seize $10 million in drugs

Published: Thursday, February 18, 2010 5:53 AM CST

WAYNESVILLE, Mo. (AP) -- Waynesville police say a security check at a closed business led to the seizure of more than $10 million in cocaine and methamphetamine.

Waynesville police Lt. Gary Brankel says police received a call Tuesday night reporting suspicious activity at the closed Whitmore Farms west of Waynesville.

An officer doing a security check saw several vehicles at the site. Police say a subsequent search led to the seizure of 89 pounds of methamphetamine with a street value of $4.1 million, and 99.6 pounds of cocaine valued at $6.1 million.

Brankel says the suspects fled the scene and no one was arrested

Wow, that is a huge haul of stimulants.

But, the $10,000,000 price tag seems unrealistic to me. If i did my calculations correctly, that equates to ~$101 per gram of methamphetamine and ~$134 per gram of cocaine. I don't know much about the drug trade in Missouri, but even at the retail level, $134 for a gram of coke is insane.

Could be possible, if the blow was relatively pure it could easily be cut to $60 grams. I don't know if meth is usually cut or what. The police will pull whatever shit they can to make the prices look as big as possible to like like bigger heros.

This.

Before you know it, the police will be touting $1000 for a gram of weed or some shit.

Anything to help them look better and prove that "there is a HUGE drug problem" out there. 8)
