Modern day hipsters

I hate how I can't be cool without being labelled and commercialised, then getting lost in a sea of arrogantly self deprecating wannabes stretching outside their tight boxes into my mega vibin' void of coolness. I hate my life

why? I like being a hipster. shit, I like being a blipster. I don't give a shit. Be what you are and who cares. Me, I'm a hipster. I fit the aesthetic, the musical taste, the attitude, don't care. Things are a whole lot easier if you are positive about yourself instead of you know, hating your life because someone called you hip.

Haha, I was being a little satirical, sorry, the kind of thing I might write if I took stereotypes seriously/"gave a shit". I think It's wrong that we generalise people down to their image or similar activities, I mean people are SO different and tend to drift towards their own elder self groups as it is and these 'hipsters' to me seem like just righteous kids that haven't grown up and found themselves yet so they look to the people they admire and see flowering in today's world, and just so happens these days, it's the creative groups who like to push the boat out and be a little weird. Some of the fad followers do come off as contrived and pretentious by following this idea of 'intellectual, alternative, organic' or whatever but I don't mind , I mean at least we don't have a load of youth walking round with Hitler taches (an inch off each hipster tache side and maybe)

The wannabes annoy me still; I blame affordable fashion and the music industry

I just don't understand the really tight pants. Really tight pants (non-polyamid/lycra) and bike riding don't even go together. Even my semi form fitting jeans can be uncomfortable while bike riding.

I do like bright colors in summer, and some hipster music. I guess a fixie might be fun to ride, but I prefer the functionality of a freewheel. I don't know many hipsters actually...I think the movement is just starting to drift over here. How many hipsters even subscribe to most of the stereotypes?

Q: How many hipsters does it take to change a light bulb?

A: It’s some obscure number. You’ve probably never heard of it.

I had half this stuff, not to mention my track bike, going on 10 years ago. I don't remember it being trendy back then. With the recent invasion of legions of yuppie-larva suburban cig. smoking hipster clones who can be seen wearing their sister's pants on every street corner, I've had to get a new ward robe and quit drinking PBR. I can't even bear to ride my fixed gear bike any more.

Actually, the hipsters are moving back to geared bikes...

What's more annoying than a hipster? People accusing others being hipsters...

So in order to be cool you have to admit that it's not cool, but you like it anyway?
How ironic!

I think I'm getting the hang of this hipster thing.

You've got it!

What happens when irony becomes cool?

Oh man. I guess the hipsters move on to being sincere. ;)

I like a lot of the music and some of the dress sense (I wear skinny jeans, Vans, and Wayfarer-style sunglasses all the time, I love them, and sometimes I wear woolen sweaters. But I don't go for the stupid looking glasses or the scarves or the satchels, etc.) I don't like the attitude so much ("I knew about that before it was cool.")

A hipster is a person that dresses like a lumberjack and gets good grades, or got good grades.

Anyone with me?

I've converted to hipster this past year by that definition, ever since my mom got me a flannel for christmas and I've buckled down at school.

hippies from the 60's weren't hipsters , do you mean TRENDY i call them trendy..ppl who are up to date with the latest crap out there.. the radio is trendy , commercial music is trendy, fashion is trendy , ppl follow it just to follow it because its whats "in"...

in the 60's ppl were to stoned to give a fuck about anything they just were natural and free... wish more ppl were like that nowadays ..

Just another trend that is influenced by the older generations fashion sense and will eventually die out/evolve into something else.
Like the scene kids.
