Mobile phones: What do you have? What do you waaaant?

i went from a 6288 to the iphone, so it's auto awesome for me

the push e-mail deal is kinda shite, but as you said firmware 2.0 will fix that, plus being able to connect to enterprise security LEAP encrypted wireless networks (key for me) will be great

i think i just geek out because i now have something i can read my comics on :(

Funny that, considering im offering to HELP people FIX their phones instead of telling them to see me so I can SELL them one. Offering my general opinion on what I think is good is far from selling.

I have an ancient sony ericsson t610. yipee. It does the basic stuff but its getting pretty dodgy and the camera is pretty much dead compared to todays technology. I'm thinking of getting a new phone and I need someone to recommend me one. All I want in a phone is to have the standard stuff - infrared, bluetooth, (maybe a reasonable camera) yeh pretty much like the phone I have now but not as ancient and preferably a flip phone. Price range around 100 - 120.

Trust me I have alot to say when it comes to the mobile phone industry, if I had my way this thread would be 100 pages long by now and 99 of those pages would be posts made by me! Lol

But at the end of the day I know what its like having a shit phone with a shit plan that doesnt suit you. I take what I do very seriously because I know what is like using somehting several times a day that makes you want to tear your hair out.

Im more then happy to give advice on phones and plans, I know most of the providers back to front even though I only sell Vodafone through my store.

(I thought of another phone to add to my shit list, the freaking Nokia 8800 any edition. For the love of Jebus DO NOT BUY THIS PHONE!!)
 
Captain Commie: which ever provider your with, look at their prepaid phones, even if your not on PP, they are the cheapest phones avaliable. But you'll have trouble finding what you want for that price with a decent cameras. You can get the infrared and 1.3MP camera with the SE Z320i for $99 through a few provders, but its an ugly as fuck phone.
The Nok 6300 is a good alternative but its more expensive at $199, also through heaps of providers.

^ I had a phillips fizz when i was at uni. I was on a $10 per month plan and only used to use $8 of it... oh how times have changed (looks at her massive cap plan).

I just want a phone with a decent camera! I can't wait untill my plan runs out so i can get an up-grade :)

Any idea's on what is the best phone to get for the best camera features?
 
SE k850, 5MP with a good flash
The Nok N95 8GB is also very good.
Honestly I wouldnt bother with the normal N95 the flash is crapola, unless the light where you are is quite bright the pics will not come out as clear as they should.

I have an N95, a Palm Treo 750 and an iPhone.
Pros & Cons...
N95: I think Symbian is rubbish. The IMAP email is OK, but not great for auto updating. The browser is good. The camera excellent. If you leave the browser open, the battery drains within hours. The GPS is flakey. Bluetooth is the best I've every used, apart from muting my car stereo for 10+ secs every time it connects/disconnects. Have to select connection *EVERY TIME*... daft. 3GPP video only... crap!!

Treo: Battery life is not great. The phone app crashes often when a call comes in, requiring a reboot, and no record of the call in the log. IMAP & Exchange email is very good. WM6 pretty good. Bluetooth flaky. No wifi, WTF?!! Video/audio playback... naff... WMP10 is rubbish. Camera not great.

iPhone: Battery life pretty good. Safari excellent. Bluetooth only passable. Wifi, excellent. Audio/Video excellent. Camera only so-so. I prefer this over any phone I've used. OK, I still use the treo for remote desktop & ssh, but love the iPhone.

In short, if you want a good camera, get a Nikon D80 & an iPhone... or an N95.

Not released in Australia yet, its similar to the Nike iPod but its also a phone. Heart rate monitor and pedometer. (It comes with a sensor that fits in your laces to measure your steps - The Nike iPod has sensors in a pair on Nike Joggers)
 
Those niche lifestyle type phones are pretty cool.

I'd like one that beeped when the police are nearby. Like you can get in your car :D

Until that day I'll continue to wait for the X1.

I received a letter from my mobile phone company today. Apparently I'm able to upgrade my handset now.

I'm going to see if I can have my name put down for the X1 :D
 
My stupid fucking phone is a piece of crap and stopped working, I'm going to tell 3 that I'm switching companies bc of the phone and see if they give me a new one.
