Mobile phones: What do you have? What do you waaaant?

Has your Nokia fucked up, LP? Mine is rooted, as are the phones of a few people i know, who also have the N73 - even the girl i spoke to at Optus today has one that's buggering up.

According to Aishas Star, the N95 is crap, with the most faults recorded of any of the phones. :\
 
My N73 is fine. The shutter slide doesn't always register as open which can be a bitch when I'm trying to take a quick drunken photo but opening and shutting it again always works. The stick also fell off in the first month but they fixed that and I've had it for nearly 2 years now with not a problem.

Is Aisha talking about the N95 though or the N95 8GB which is an updated model?
 
The N73 is an instrument of evil

Its latest decision was to discontinue to acknowledge the memory card

Whenever I open the slide for the camera, the phone takes me to the main menu. Huzzah!

I agree - the N73 is the antichrist.

i have the Samsung G600:

it is an exquisitely designed phone, no doubt about that. but don't be tempted by the 5MP capability, cos it's SHIT! and when you have it set to full resolution it takes forever to capture & process a photo. i've set it down to 2MB (1600 x 1200) which has improved the speed a lot but it's still too slow.

also, the music player interface sucks. you need to setup all your playlists in the Samsung media software (incompatible with winamp playlists) which is pretty annoying. it won't just play a folder FFS!

if i was buying again now (out of the list you posted) i would probably get the Sony W910i.

my sony w800i is like that - leave the phone sitting on the table and it'll suddenly decide it wants to take a photo, slider open or not. open the slider, and it stays with my wallpaper - i have to go through the menu to actually take a photo :\

despite that, i still love them and will get another sony when my contract is up in a couple of months
 
I've got three atm: An old SE K300i which I now just keep as a back-up and to keep notes lists etc
A K750i which I Love! It's my absolute fave of all the phones I've had. And just Monday I bought this ZTE f256 which is a dead cheap Telstra branded NextG phone I got purey for browsing. I'm using it right now with an Opera Mini mod and for a $70 NextG handset I'm pretty happy.
 
I keep getting letters from my mobile phone company saying I can upgrade my phone. The choices are shit though. There is no way I am upgrading to one of those N73s because I think my phone (SE w850i) is far superior to that, or any of the other phones they've said I can upgrade to for free or $30/60...

I've never had any problems with this current phone anyway. I think it's froze maybe once or twice and I had to take the battery out to reset it. Otherwise I have no reason to upgrade until the Sony Ercission Xperia1 comes out...

I got a Moto Razr of some sort right now. Does the job. It aint bad. Its Free. Still paying off my other dead phone til March. WAITING FOR IPHONE!! Garh!!

aye, i've had my eye on those for a while now. i quite fancy one of those or an iphone.

but when oh when will phone manufacturers realise that a fucking LENS COVER should be mandatory nowadays?

Stupid gay site doesn't like my Flash blocker and wants me to download the player which I have. Tough. No Sony Ericsson for me :p ;)

It's tiny, takes decent photos (daytime only), and has easy to use internet.... but it's best feature is TrackID!!!!!!

TrackID lets you record a few seconds of a song from the radio or in a club and after a few seconds it comes back to you with the name of the song, the album and who it's by!!!! It's the best feature ever! (Don't ask me where it gets it's info from...)

Dozens of times now when someone asks what the name of some song is I just whip out my phone and find out. It's sick!!!

Sometimes it can't find the song but 9 times out of 10 it's spot on. A great feature!:D
 
My contract is up and I'm currently on the search for a new phone. I'm tempted by the Motorola MotoRAZR2 V9 - looks like it would have everything I'm after, and a quick scan of the review sites says it's quite reliable with average talk time and won't break in 5 minutes.

It has decent features. Personally though I think it's kind of an ugly phone. I remember my stepfather having one and hating it.

That's just me the cotb :)

Yes the 8GB version is MUCH better. Bigger battery, larger screen, better software and of course 8GB of internal memory,

Internal memory is a great thing, accept if you have a virus and the only way to get rid of it alot of the time is to actually re-format the entire phone, instead of just the memory card like any other phone that has external memory.

Only downside of the N95 8GB


Even though I think its an awesome unit, I just bought myself the Sony Ericsson W890i, couldnt be happier

SE have released a headset that you can get GPS on, plug it on and it shows the maps on the handset with voice navigation through the headphones.
WANT!!

Will find link.. also works with W880i and other models
